Classic Kipper Stern Launch from 1945 – Authentic wooden launch with trailer This characteristic Kipper stern launch from 1945 is a classic example of traditional English craftsmanship. Built by E. Dove Boatyard in Devon, England, this launch is a representative model of the clinker-built wooden boats that were popular on the inland waters of Europe in the mid-20th century. With a length of 5.00 meters and a width of 1.80 meters, this launch offers space for relaxing cruises on lakes, rivers, and canals. Construction and materials used The hull of the launch is made of ash wood, clinker-built and copper-riveted, contributing to its classic appearance and structural strength. The finishing with teak edges and a rubbing strake gives it a traditional maritime character. Both the fore and aft decks were renovated in 2002 with iroko wood, a durable type known for its weather resistance and long lifespan. Engine and technical details The launch is equipped with an inboard diesel engine from the brand Vetus, type M2C5A402A, with a power of 11 hp. This engine was installed in 2000 and runs on diesel fuel. The fuel tank has a capacity of 10 liters, sufficient for day trips on inland waters. The engine is operational, providing a smooth and stable ride. The boat features a manual anchor windlass, an anchor with chain and line, and has a swim ladder for easy water access. Equipment and accessories The Kipper stern launch comes with various accessories that enhance comfort and safety on board. The equipment includes: - Cover(s) for protection against weather conditions - Fenders and lines for mooring - Teak deck for a classic look and grip - Lifebuoy for safety - Oars with rowlocks - Boat hook, mooring line, and lock Additionally, there is a logbook documenting the maintenance and use of the boat. The boat was last taken out of the water for maintenance in 2024 and underwent an antifouling treatment in the same year. Trailer included The sale includes a Capo road trailer, model L500/450, with registration. This trailer was built in 2000 and is suitable for road transport. The trailer allows for easy transportation of the launch and launching at different locations. Usage and sailing experience The launch has mainly been used on inland waters for day trips, leisure cruising, and holidays. The low air draft of 80 cm enables passing under low bridges, significantly expanding the sailing possibilities. With a draft of only 30 cm, the launch is suitable for shallow waters. A unique feature of this launch is its classic appearance, often attracting admiring looks on the water. The boat offers an authentic sailing experience and is ideal for enthusiasts of traditional wooden vessels. Viewing and sales information The Kipper stern launch is sold including the trailer. Documentation in the form of a logbook is available. The launch is ready for use and presents a unique opportunity for lovers of classic wooden boats.
