Description

We have for sale the Norwegian-built vessel "Sarsen", now at a shipyard in Bergen: * Under construction, 80% complete * Built by Mjellem and Karlsen in Norway * Built for DNV class 1 A1 ICE (C) 1CMV, EO for polar expeditions * Solid construction in steel - Ice class vessel (C) * 2 x 1,999 hp Rolls Royce Marine engines * Cruising speed 10 knots, max 14 knots * Range of 7,000 nm * 17 guests in 8 cabins * Up to 33 crew * Helicopter deck Sarsen was originally valued at $7 million. In the middle of the refit process, the current owner has run out of funds to complete, and it is possible to secure the vessel very favorably. About 20% of the work remains. Status: At the moment there are no class documents as they have not been updated due to a halt in the rebuilding work. She has been at DNV and Ice-C in her life and when work was progressing in the Norwegian shipyard. DNV had an office there to monitor the work. Everything that went on board was class approved. We also have access to the 178-page DNV-approved stability manual. She is sold "as is, where is" at the yard. History: Sarsen was delivered in 1970 and was built by Mjellem and Karlsen in Norway as a North Atlantic exploration vessel, specially built for longer trips to polar regions. She was then rebuilt for charter use in 2006. The stern was changed, a helicopter landing platform was established, a small swimming pool and a large outdoor terrace with barbecue equipment. The research laboratories became an elegant dining room with surround sound/music system. The upper deck was transformed into a luxury TV room with a large plasma screen and surround sound. Six fully air-conditioned guest suites can accommodate 12-17 guests. The main cabin has a large bathroom, queen size bed and owner's lounge with leather sofas. The en-suite guest cabins have comfortable double beds with spring mattresses and Wi-Fi access points and telephones. Potential: Exclusive cruises in the northern areas, charter worldwide, private ownership ++
