Description

The Oostvaarder 1040 is a cutter-rigged motorsailer with a steel hard chine hull and long keel. Both under sail and motor power, the Oostvaarder 1040 has good sailing characteristics. The Mitsubishi 4-cylinder diesel engine was newly installed in 2017. Both the genoa and the staysail are roller reefing and can be controlled from the cockpit with four self-tailing winches. The mainsail is hoisted at the mast, with a grab rail at the mast base for support. The aluminum mast is equipped with steps. The side decks are wide, allowing for easy passage along the wheelhouse and superstructure. The high toe rail and bulwark provide safety for the crew and keep the deck free of spray. There is an electric anchor windlass with foot controls on the foredeck. Behind the sturdy wheelhouse is a sheltered cockpit with a steering wheel. Navigation equipment and bow thruster controls are located at the helm. While sailing, the view from the raised bench on the pushpit is optimal. In addition to the engine, the current owners have replaced various parts, such as a complete navigation package, the battery bank, solar panel, hot air heating, Lazybag for the mainsail, UV-strips on foresails, etc. In 2017, the underwater hull was blasted and coated with multiple layers of Hempel 2-component epoxy primer. Interior: In the wheelhouse, in addition to a second steering position, there is a sofa, a wooden table, and a bench. Next to the steering position is a switch panel, GPS chartplotter, and VHF radio. The table and wooden bench can be folded up for more space. The windows have aluminum frames, two of which can be opened. In the cabin, to starboard, there is a dinette that can also be used as a sleeping area. Opposite is the galley with a gimbaled stove, sink, and refrigerator. A boiler provides hot running water for the galley, wet room, and outdoor shower. Various hatches and folding portholes provide ventilation. In the forward cabin, there is a spacious double bed, with a wardrobe and shelves for storing clothes. Between the cabin and the forward cabin is a wet room with toilet, and the sink can be stowed away after use. A holding tank is also part of the equipment.
