Description

The Van de Stadt 40ft Norman Cruiser, built in 2003, is a steel sailing yacht designed for both recreational and commercial use. With a length of 12.09 meters, a beam of 3.90 meters, and a draft of 1.50 meters, this vessel offers a stable and comfortable sail, suitable for both inland waters and open sea. The hull is designed in an S-shaped form, contributing to its course stability and sailing comfort under various conditions. Design and Construction The design originates from the renowned Van de Stadt Design Studio, known for their functional and seaworthy designs. The hull is constructed from steel, ensuring a robust build and long-term durability. The fixed keel and single rudder provide a stable position in the water. Steering is done through a tiller from the cockpit, offering direct control while sailing. The air draft is approximately 17 meters, making the vessel suitable for use on larger waters and coastal areas. The displacement is around 9,300 kg, with a ballast of about 2,800 kg, contributing to the ship's stability. Interior and Accommodation Inside, the Van de Stadt 40ft Norman Cruiser offers a comfortable living space with a headroom of approximately 1.95 meters. The layout accommodates 4 fixed berths, divided between a forward cabin and a lockable aft cabin, both equipped with a double bed. In the saloon, two additional berths can be created, bringing the total to 6. The galley is fully equipped with a gas stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, and sink with hot and cold running water. The wet room features a manual toilet, sink, and shower, connected to an 80-liter holding tank. For comfort on warm days, there is an Aftron air conditioning system with a capacity of 15,200 Btu/h. Engine and Technical Equipment Propulsion is provided by a Solé Diesel MINI-55 inboard engine with a power of 50 hp. The engine has only 213 running hours and is electrically started. At a cruising speed of approximately 12 km/h (6.5 knots), the fuel consumption is around 3.6 liters per hour. The fuel tank has a capacity of 200 liters, providing sufficient range for longer journeys. The electrical system consists of two batteries with a total capacity of 300 Ah, powered by an alternator, battery charger, and shore power connection. Onboard navigation instruments include GPS, chartplotter, depth sounder, wind gauge, compass, and VHF radio. A battery monitor is also present to monitor the power supply. Sail Equipment The sail plan consists of a (2025) Doyle Dacron mainsail and a furling genoa, both mounted on an aluminum mast. The rigging was also renewed in 2025. The mainsail features a three-reef system, while the genoa is equipped with a furling system, making it easy to adjust the sail area to weather conditions. This configuration makes the vessel suitable for both solo sailors and crewed trips. Deck Equipment On deck, the Van de Stadt 40ft Norman Cruiser is equipped with an electric anchor windlass with chain, a swim ladder, lifelines, fenders, and lines. The cockpit features comfortable exterior cushions and a foldable cockpit table, enhancing the deck's comfort. The spacious cockpit provides ample seating for crew and guests. Safety Features The onboard safety equipment meets international standards for both private and commercial use. Included are life jackets, a lifebuoy, distress flares, fire extinguishers, a first aid kit, electric and manual bilge pumps, emergency lighting, and an emergency ladder. Registration and Documentation The boat is registered in Dubai and holds all necessary maritime documents, including a seaworthiness certificate and a commercial license. Upon sale, all original documents will be provided, along with various spare parts, kitchenware, navigation aids, and safety equipment. History and Usage The current owner purchased the boat several years ago, but due to business commitments, its use has been limited. The low engine hours and the recent renewal of sails and rigging in 2025 reflect this limited use. The boat has mainly been used for recreational sailing at sea. The Van de Stadt 40ft Norman Cruiser is a steel sailing yacht with a functional design, spacious accommodation, and a complete setup for longer journeys. With its combination of seaworthiness, comfort, and technical amenities, this vessel is suitable for both recreational and commercial purposes. The recent updates to sails and rigging, along with the low engine hours, make the boat ready for new adventures on the water.
