3B Craft from 1973 – Classic motor yacht with character and space This 1973 3B Craft is a motor yacht measuring 10 meters in length and 3 meters in width. Constructed by the Martin-Yacht shipyard of Grell in Lübeck-Schlutup, it features a composite hull with a V-bottom. Designed for comfortable onboard living, it accommodates multiple individuals with two fixed berths and two additional sleeping spaces. With a clearance height of 6 meters and a draft of 2 meters, the vessel is suitable for both inland and coastal waters. Layout and Accommodation Inside, the boat offers a headroom of 2 meters, creating a spacious feel. The layout prioritizes comfort and practicality, equipped with amenities such as a dining area, shower, vacuum toilet, stove, refrigerator, mattresses, and hot water. The mahogany superstructure lends a classic ambiance to the interior. The boat includes a 400-liter water tank and a 600-liter diesel tank, enabling extended stays onboard. The onboard heating system operates on hot air, enhancing comfort during cooler days. It features an electric bow thruster system for easier maneuvering in harbors. Propulsion and Technology The 3B Craft is powered by two Volvo Penta TMD40A inboard diesel engines, each delivering 125 hp. Both engines, manufactured in 1977, have approximately 900 running hours. They are electrically started, achieving a cruising speed of around 8 km/h and a maximum speed of about 15 km/h. The boat is equipped with gauges such as an oil pressure meter, temperature gauge, and tachometer. The onboard electrical system operates on 12V and includes a battery charger and a solar panel. Navigation equipment comprises a compass and a log/speedometer. Exterior Equipment and Deck Gear The deck features various amenities enhancing the onboard experience, including a bimini for shade, cockpit table, teak deck, guardrails, swim platform, and swim ladder. An electric anchor windlass with chain and anchor is present. Davits for a dinghy and a cover (tarpaulin) for weather protection are also included. Documentation and Registration The boat is registered with an International Certificate of Pleasure Craft (ICP) under number 19040-A, and VAT has been paid. Documentation includes a 1977 engine manual. Since 2018, the boat has been stored in a shed and has not been in the water since. The last antifouling treatment was also in 2018. Known Areas of Attention Several areas require attention, including checking the bilge pump, cleaning the diesel in the full tank, and cleaning the water tank. Additionally, some mahogany areas need a fresh coat of varnish. In the past, there was a steering system issue due to worn hoses between the helm and rudder, which were replaced with original shipyard parts. History and Usage The boat was purchased in Neustadt on the Baltic Sea and has been used for leisure boating, vacations, and weekend stays since. The owner has navigated the boat on lakes, rivers, and seas. Due to circumstances, the boat has seen limited use in recent years. The owner describes the vessel as a nostalgic retreat with a warm atmosphere, attributed to the mahogany superstructure and layout conducive to relaxing evenings on the aft deck. Included Equipment The sale includes various accessories such as tableware, tools, mattresses, and the existing VHF radio. Summary This 1973 3B Craft is a classic motor yacht with a distinctive appearance and a functional layout. Featuring two engines, ample accommodation, and various onboard amenities, the vessel is suitable for extended stays on the water. It presents an opportunity for classic yacht enthusiasts seeking a vessel with history and potential for further optimization.
