Feeling 29 DI – Sailboat with centerboard, suitable for grounding and shallow waters The Feeling 29 DI, built in 1995 by the French shipyard Kirie, is a sailboat distinguished by its centerboard construction and practical layout. With a length of 8.70 meters and a beam of 3.10 meters, this vessel offers a spacious and functional living environment, suitable for both inland waters and coastal areas such as the Wadden Sea. The boat is the successor to the Kelt 850 and is known for its versatility and user-friendliness, especially for families or sailors who enjoy grounding or exploring shallow areas. Hull and construction The hull of the Feeling 29 DI is made of polyester and has a round bilge shape. This hull construction contributes to stability and comfort while sailing. The draft ranges from 0.65 meters to 1.70 meters thanks to the centerboard, allowing navigation in shallow waters or grounding in places like the Wadden. The boat has an air draft of approximately 13 meters, making it suitable for most bridges on inland waters. Interior and accommodation Inside, the Feeling 29 DI offers a headroom of 1.75 meters. The layout focuses on comfort and functionality, with four fixed berths and two additional berths in the salon. The cabin is lined with wood and equipped with a dining area, mattresses, an oven, and a stove. The sanitary facilities include a manual toilet with a 30-liter holding tank and a shower. The water tank has a capacity of 90 liters. The salon upholstery shows signs of detachment in some areas, although it has already been replaced in the aft cabin. Engine and technology The boat is equipped with a Yanmar 2GM20 inboard diesel engine of 18 hp, with two cylinders and an electric starting system. The engine dates back to 1994 and has approximately 3000 running hours. The fuel consumption is around 1.5 liters per hour, with a 25-liter diesel tank. The engine is operational. The electrical system consists of three batteries with a total capacity of approximately 250 Ah, a Victron battery charger (renewed in 2024), alternator, shore power connection, and a voltmeter. Navigation and electronics In terms of navigation, the boat is equipped with an autopilot (Autohelm ST2000), GPS (MLR FX312), compass, log/speedometer, depth sounder, and VHF radio. The wind instrument is currently not functioning. The boat features an ST60+ depth and log instrument. The autopilot plug is currently not receiving power, requiring attention. Sail equipment The Feeling 29 DI features an aluminum mast and an extensive sail plan with six sails: two mainsails, genoa, storm jib, reaching sail, and spinnaker with a corresponding spinnaker pole. The headsail is equipped with a Selden Furlex furling system (replaced in 2024). The running rigging has been largely renewed, and the lifting line of the centerboard has been replaced with a dyneema line. The condition of the sails is described as functional. Equipment and extras On deck, the boat is equipped with a sprayhood, lifelines, pulpit and pushpit, swim ladder, and swim platform. Two anchors are present with chain and line. The cockpit is self-draining. For safety, a life raft (Arimar, 4 persons, soft bag) is onboard, although it still needs to be certified. An electric bilge pump is installed. The boat comes with various extras, including a Quicksilver dinghy with a Mariner 2.5 hp outboard engine, spare parts (including a replacement VHF radio), a bosun's chair, and fender board. Usage The boat has mainly been used for leisure sailing, day trips, and weekend stays. The combination of centerboard, mast lowering system, and compact dimensions makes the Feeling 29 DI particularly suitable for Dutch inland waters and grounding on the Wadden. Summary The Feeling 29 DI is a functional and spacious sailboat with a centerboard construction, suitable for a wide range of sailing areas. Thanks to recent technical improvements such as a new furling jib system, renewed batteries, and LED lighting, the boat is ready for the upcoming season. Some points of attention are the defective wind instrument, the upholstery in the salon, and the autopilot plug. The boat offers a practical solution for sailors looking for a versatile vessel with opportunities for grounding and comfortable onboard stays.
