The RJ 85 is a Swedish design, developed by Rolf Jacobson in the early 70s. It was intended to enable young families to sail with their own seaworthy, sporty, and fast boat, and it became very successful in the Scandinavian countries. It is both very agile and very safe. Due to the high weight percentage of more than 50% at the lowest point in the keel, the construction has a strong righting moment. Archipelago cruisers have always been designed to allow anchoring close to the shore/rocks. The keel is designed so that you can sail very close to the shore. For this purpose, a bow anchor and a stern anchor are available, including a holder and anchor roller with 30m of chain. The boat is lined and insulated with wood on the inside. Due to the renovation, there is a standing height of 1.85 m below deck in some areas. The bowsprit was newly installed in 2016, and the sails (gennaker, mainsail, roller genoa, and storm jib) are from NORTH (2012). 6 winches, including some from Harken, an autopilot, radio, compass, LED navigation lights, chart plotter, 2 battery circuits, bilge pump, and much more provide extensive safety. Also included are the deflection of all halyards into the cockpit and the roller furling jib, making the boat suitable for single-handed sailing. The upper deck was rebuilt by a boatbuilding specialist in 2023 after winter storage damage and is therefore virtually as good as new. The halyards were renewed in 2024. For the underwater hull, Hempel Underwater Primer, Hempel Gelprimer black, and Hempel HARD RACING TEC-CEL were used. The underwater hull at the yacht building company 2025 was given a new coat of paint. The sails are lightly used and in good condition, the gennaker is practically like new. The radio is from iCOM, the plotter from Geonav (the plotter works perfectly, but is age-appropriate, see photo). The boat is on land at a winter storage/boat building operation in Kiel and can be viewed by appointment. Sale from private, non-smoking household without pets.
