Gib Sea 37 Ketch - "Philou" (1976)The Gib Sea 37 Ketch "Philou" is a classic and seaworthy cruising yacht designed by Michel Joubert. This solidly built polyester sailing yacht is known for its reliable sailing characteristics, comfortable cockpit, and practical ketch rigging. Thanks to the sail plan distribution, the vessel is easy to trim and pleasant to sail, even with a small crew. With a length of 11.70 m and a beam of 3.80 m, the Philou offers a spacious and functional interior. The boat features two cabins and 5 fixed berths (up to 7) with a headroom of approximately 1.80 m in the salon. The kitchen was modernized in 2017, and the interior received an upgrade in 2002. Heating via an Eberspächer D4 makes staying on board comfortable even in the early and late seasons. The Yanmar 4JH3 diesel engine (2002) delivers around 40 hp and has approximately 1650 running hours. Major engine maintenance was carried out in 2021. In the same year, new Ullman Navigator Dacron sails were installed (mainsail, mizzen, and genoa). The rigging was checked in 2022. Navigation equipment includes Raymarine instruments (depth, wind, and autopilot) and a Furuno GPS. The Philou has a rich history: the boat has remained within the same family since the mid-1990s and was passed from father to son in 2021. Over the past decades, the boat has undertaken various trips across the North Sea to Belgium, France, and England, and has recently been used in the Grevelingen and Oosterschelde. This underscores the seaworthy reputation of this type of vessel. Points of Attention As expected for a classic boat of this age, there are some areas that require attention. Maintenance is needed for the deck, window seals, and the propeller shaft seal. Additionally, there are some cosmetic issues such as deck wear and gelcoat. To provide full transparency, a recent purchase survey was conducted to assess the condition of the boat and identify areas of concern. This report is available upon request during a viewing. Auction via BoatAuction This boat is exclusively being sold through the online auction platform BoatAuction, with bidding starting at €10,000.00.
