Custom Ketch 50 now available in online auction. Everyone can bid until July 6, 2026. Spacious Custom Ketch 50 for long voyages For those seeking a classically lined sailing boat with the character of a true cruising ketch, this Custom Ketch 50 offers a remarkably complete and inviting package. Built in 1992 by Gordon Yachting and designed by a naval architect, only two examples of this design have been realized. You can feel it in every detail: the boat is spaciously laid out, thoughtfully designed, and made for comfortable days at sea. With a length of 16.40 meters, a beam of 4.40 meters, and a draft of 2.20 meters, she provides a mature sailing platform for those who wish to sail seriously but also enjoy living aboard with family or friends. The hull features a stepped V shape and is constructed from laminated mahogany with epoxy, including West System, epoxy roving, and frames made from Niangon and Moabi. The deck is finished with 15 mm teak, giving her a warm and timeless appearance. Inside, there is approximately 2.00 meters of headroom, making life aboard pleasant even during longer vacations or wintering periods. This Custom Ketch 50 has been used at sea and is described by the owner as a comfortable and spacious cruising boat, with fond memories of voyages in the Aegean Sea along the islands of the Dodecanese. Custom Ketch 50 now available in online auction. Everyone can bid until July 6, 2026. What is the layout and how many sleeping places does she have? She offers fixed sleeping accommodations for nine people spread across multiple cabins, making the boat suitable for families, guest crew members, or a combination of private use and longer voyages. There is a master cabin with a double bed and an extra single bed; additionally, there is a guest cabin with a double bed and another guest cabin with two single beds. At the front is a crew cabin with a single bed, and there is also an extra sleeping place possible in the salon or cockpit. With three toilets and showers, life aboard is practically arranged, especially when sailing with multiple people. The presence of air conditioning, hot water, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and a cooking stove with oven makes her appealing to those seeking comfort in their sailing yacht. What can you expect from the engine and technology? The boat is equipped with a Lister inboard diesel engine of 135 hp connected to a PRM Z600 drive system. The engine is operational and has approximately 2400 running hours. For those looking for a sailing boat with an auxiliary engine that can also cruise comfortably in lighter winds, this is an enjoyable combination. The cruising speed hovers around 10 km per hour while the maximum speed reaches about 12 km per hour. Onboard are standard instruments such as fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, and temperature gauge. The fuel capacity is approximately 1000 liters, making her suitable for longer passages. For power supply, there’s a 5 kW Westerbeke generator supplemented by a battery charger, solar panels, and six batteries. This makes her interesting for those who wish to anchor independently or stay outside harbor for extended periods. How is she equipped for navigation and sailing? As a ketch, she features two wooden masts and a sail plan that invites relaxed and balanced sailing. She carries mainsail, mizzen sail, jib, genoa, cruising chute (half-winder), and storm jib. There’s a roller system for the headsail while the genoa has reefing systems that make sailing manageable even with smaller crews. Steering is done via tiller steering that’s double-implemented with a single rudder. For navigation and safety at sea she comes equipped with autopilot, radar, GPS chart plotter, compass, depth sounder, log speedometer and wind meter plus VHF radio. This makes her suitable for anyone looking for a sailing yacht meant for offshore sailing or cruising ketch capable of well-preparing longer crossings. What makes her comfortable for long stays aboard? This Custom Ketch 50 is clearly designed as a sailing boat for long journeys. With approximately 2000 liters of water tank capacity you can plan generously; there’s also holding tank present. The toilet system operates on vacuum technology which does not discharge directly into open water. Heating is provided via a stove making her suitable for both early spring and late autumn seasons as well. Outside you’ll find amenities that make life on deck enjoyable such as bimini top, cockpit table, cockpit tent, outdoor cushions, teak deck, guardrails and swim ladder. For anchoring and maneuvering there’s an electric anchor windlass included along with two CQR anchors plus about 90 meters of chain. Also practical: davits and dinghy—a 3D tender powered by Tohatsu's 5 hp outboard motor—allowing easy access to shore from your anchorage or mooring. In 2026 she was last pulled out of the water for maintenance while antifouling was applied in 2024. Documentation comes in the form of a complete dossier including plans from the architect which will serve as valuable information for many buyers. For anyone searching through Boatauction for spacious sailboats like classic ketches or comfortable yachts ideal for holidays or offshore sailing adventures will find this Custom Ketch 50 to be warm inviting vessel rich in story along with equipment encouraging new destinations to be chosen.
