Description

The 1991 Grand Banks 42 Europa 'LOTUS' is a classic and timeless motor yacht that, over the years, continues to be one of the most desirable models. The LOTUS was one of the last of the original models 42 Europa, before American Marine switched to a new mold in 1997 and changed the layout of aft deck and fwd cabin, among others. In recent years, LOTUS has sailed the Mediterranean, making trips from Mallorca to Gibraltar, Morocco, Libya and Tunisia. The GB 42 Europa has long proven good seaworthiness. The 2915 engine hours were mainly made during these sea voyages. The experiences at sea are reflected in the equipment and configuration of the Lotus, e.g. there is a separate backup system for the electrical system, a fire extinguishing system in the engine room, night lights in the saloon, an Epirb, a system for synchronization for both engines (GlendinningTM), a towing anchor, towing hawser and an extensive arsenal of arrows and flares. There is also a stock of spare parts (filters, gaskets, belts} on the ship. An official stability report has been made of the Lotus. The current Dutch owner bought her in 2020 and over the years modernized and updated her with new equipment. The upholstery was also completely renewed. A lot was also renewed of the Ford Sabre engines, including: the engine mounts, oil coolers, high pressure lines, and the seals of both propeller shafts. Bitches also overhauled the heat exchangers and generator (about 400 hours). The Lotus has a cruising speed of 9 kn at 1950 RPM. The top is about 10.5 kn. Consumption is between 9 and 18 Liters per hour, giving the Lotus a theoretical range of ca 1500 nautical miles. Both water tanks were recently replaced and now have a capacity of 750 liters. In October 2023, the engine oil and all filters were renewed and the Lotus was antifouled. The diesel tanks have been filled with GTL. For the past three years the vessel has been covered and dry stored during the winter.
