Description

Unique project! German sailing heritage that can be transformed into a fantastic houseboat or used commercially. Discuss the possibilities! A nearly original classic German rescue boat of almost 23 meters that can be turned into a beautiful B&B location, or converted into an exclusive floating home. Other plans for this piece of German sailing heritage, currently in a project phase? Sign up for a tour on board! The history: The construction: Built in 1960 by the Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard in Lemwerder with construction number 5468 and then put into service by the German KNRM. Four of this type of rescue boat, the so-called class 23.2, were built. The 'Hamburg' also had a small sister ship, the 'Michel', which could be launched via the open transom with rollers on the aft deck. The 'Michel' has since been sold, but the open aft deck is still intact for a possible other tender. The equipment: The ship was equipped with 3 engines; a V12 main engine of 1350 HP, a type also used for diesel locomotives, and 2 auxiliary engines with a controllable pitch propeller. The ship reached speeds of around 20 knots at full speed! Of the 3 engines, only the old main engine is still in operation, which can also be removed for installation of a more modern type or to completely redesign the engine room. The journey: From 1960 to 1975, the ship was stationed in Burgstaaken and was in service as a rescue boat for the German KNRM, the DGzRS, until 1980. It was then sailed to Gromitz where it was located until 1985. From there, it sailed on to the Caribbean where it operated for a while as a service vessel under the name 'Seewolf'. Sailing heritage: In 1990, the ship returned to Germany and from 2004 to 2007, it was moored as a historic ship in the museum harbor of Hamburg. Eventually, the ship was auctioned online in 2017. Since then, it has had several owners and has been in various ports. And now! Finally, in 2019, SRF Shipbuilding picked up the ship in Denmark and brought it to Harlingen to turn it into a B&B ship. The plans are still on the table, but due to circumstances, they have not yet been implemented. Who dares to revive this piece of German sailing heritage with good papers and a provisional Certificate of Fitness for Sailing? Who dares to make an offer? Call or email for more information or to schedule a visit on board! Currently located in Harlingen!
