Step aboard a piece of maritime history with this beautiful converted lifeboat, the 'La Grave'. Built in 1945 by the Welin Davit & Boat Corporation. Constructed in 1945 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey (Hull number A.11618), this vessel tells a unique story of durability and transformation. Historical and Sustainable: This aluminum classic, with its rugged red hull and white superstructure, was originally designed as a lifeboat, ensuring an extremely seaworthy and stable construction. Welin Davit & Boat Corporation is renowned for their role in maritime history, known as suppliers of davits (cranes) and lifeboats. The 'La Grave' is an original lifeboat from the end of World War II. This heritage guarantees an extremely stable, safe, and seaworthy hull, designed to withstand the toughest conditions. The robust red aluminum hull and white superstructure bear witness to its functional past, now transformed into a comfortable and stylish motor launch. The use of Aluminum as a building material in 1945 makes this vessel particularly unique and easy to maintain. The 'La Grave' is equipped with a reliable Yanmar inboard engine from 2009 (3 cylinders). This relatively young engine in the classic hull offers the best of both worlds: the charm of a historic boat with the reliability and ease of operation of a modern propulsion system. The unique fact that this lifeboat is built of Aluminum (in 1945!) offers significant advantages: Lightweight and Strong: Ensures excellent handling and stability. Rustproof: Unlike steel, aluminum is completely resistant to rust, significantly extending its lifespan and minimizing maintenance. Durability: An investment in a vessel that effortlessly withstands the test of time. Furthermore, the boat has a bow thruster, making mooring, turning, and maneuvering surprisingly easy and precise, a luxury rarely found on lifeboats of this age. Despite being a beautiful boat at its core, it does require a lot of love from an enthusiast. Some caulking seams need replacing here and there. The paint on the deck and hull is not as it used to be, and some spots in the cockpit need filling. If the time and energy are invested in this boat, you will have a beautiful lifeboat that can last for years to come!
