Altena 48 Motor Yacht – Comfortable steel classic with spacious accommodation The Altena 48 is a classic steel motor yacht from 1980, built by the renowned Dutch shipyard Altena. With a length of 14.50 meters and a width of 4 meters, this vessel provides a spacious and stable base for both short day trips and longer boating holidays. Thanks to its robust construction, dual steering, and practical layout, this yacht is suitable for various sailing areas, from inland waters and rivers to coastal waters. Altena 48 now in the online auction. Everyone can bid until January 19, 2026. Spacious and thoughtful layout for a comfortable stay on board Inside, the Altena 48 offers a generous living space with a headroom of 2.05 meters, creating a pleasant sense of space. The accommodation is equipped with six fixed berths and three additional sleeping options, accommodating larger groups or families. The layout is practical and clear, featuring a cozy dining area, a well-equipped galley with a fridge, oven, microwave, and hot water supply, and a separate shower and toilet room. The electric toilet is connected to a 300-liter waste water tank, enhancing comfort during longer stays on board. The hot air heating system allows for comfortable sailing in the early and late seasons. With a large water tank of 1000 liters and a diesel tank of 750 liters, the vessel is suitable for longer journeys without frequent stops. Dual engines and stable sailing characteristics The Altena 48 is powered by two Mercedes OM312 diesel engines, each with 90 hp. These inboard engines provide a cruising speed of approximately 15 km/h and a top speed of around 19 km/h. The engines start electrically and are equipped with gauges such as a fuel tank gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and tachometer. The fuel consumption is around 5 liters per engine per hour, which is favorable for a vessel of this size. The V-shaped hull contributes to stable and course-stable sailing, even in changing conditions. Both a bow and stern thruster facilitate maneuvering in harbors or narrow waterways, making it easy and stress-free. The dual steering – inside and outside – offers flexibility in different weather and sailing conditions. Navigation and electrical equipment In terms of navigation, the Altena 48 is well-equipped with features such as a Raymariner chart plotter, GPS, compass, log/speedometer, radar, and VHF radio. This equipment enables safe and accurate navigation, even on larger waters. The electrical system consists of four batteries with a total capacity of 440 Ah, a battery charger, alternator, inverter, shore power connection, and a solar panel, contributing to the vessel's autonomy. Deck equipment and safety On deck, the Altena 48 is equipped with a bimini for shade on sunny days, sturdy guardrails, fenders and lines, a swim platform, and davits for potentially hanging a dinghy. The anchor is attached to a chain and operated with a hand winch. For onboard safety, there is a lifebuoy and an electric bilge pump. Versatile vessel for recreational use The Altena 48 is a versatile motor yacht suitable for various purposes, such as day trips, weekend stays, vacations, or even semi-permanent living aboard. With its stable sailing characteristics and user-friendly features, the vessel is suitable for both novice and experienced sailors. The combination of space, comfort, and practical equipment makes this vessel an attractive choice for those seeking a classic steel motor yacht with character. With its origins in the Netherlands and a recent interior refresh in 2025, this Altena 48 provides a solid foundation for new adventures on the water. Whether you want to explore tranquil inland waters or plan longer journeys along rivers and coastal areas, this vessel offers the possibilities and comfort to fully enjoy boating.
