One that feels safe no matter what you do with it, keeping you dry and warm. Like the Scandinavian commuter boats that Swedes use to rush to their islands in rough weather in the sheltered wheelhouse - rightfully earning the reputation of a "maritime SUV"? Do you want plenty of deck space but also a comfortable cabin for overnight stays and even tours? And the boat should be fast, really "fun"? Then you may have found your boat. The French shipyard Beneteau introduced the Barracuda series as a "jack-of-all-trades" many years ago. A boat for deep-sea fishing, suitable as a work vessel - or for cruising and even water skiing. A boat for every purpose. A floating Swiss Army knife. Plus, it has remarkably good fuel efficiency. The current owner spent five weeks last year cruising through the Danish South Sea in economical planing mode (between 18 and 21 knots), consuming between 45 and 55 liters of fuel per hour, equivalent to a consumption of 2.5 to 2.6 liters per nautical mile. The "Akila" is from the fifth and final series and as the "Barracuda" 9, it was somewhat the flagship of the successful fleet. It was delivered in 2020 to the first owner on the North Sea coast with the best possible equipment (from autopilot to teak flooring). In the summer of 2023, it was sold to the current owner, who used the boat as a pleasure craft from its home port in Delfzijl. Last summer, he sailed from Holland across the North Sea to the Kiel Canal and spent five weeks cruising through the Danish South Sea. The sale is now due to a desire for a larger boat - and a switch to a sailboat. The boat is currently on a harbor trailer in Emsland and can be viewed there by appointment.
