Description

This sturdy cabin sloop, built in 1953 by the renowned shipyard Hugh McLean & Sons LTD, is a striking presence on the water. Originally designed as a lifeboat, this vessel has been converted into a functional and comfortable cabin sloop with a nostalgic character. The hull is made of riveted aluminum, contributing to the authentic appearance and durability of the vessel. The superstructure is made of steel, ensuring a solid construction. Measuring 11 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and with a draft of 1 meter, this sloop offers ample space for various boating activities. With a clearance height of approximately 1.90 meters, the ship is suitable for trips on inland waters, canals, lakes, and rivers. The V-shaped hull and single rudder provide stable and predictable handling, enhancing a comfortable boating experience. Interior and Accommodation The cabin sloop features a practical layout with a sleeping area accommodating two fixed berths. Additionally, there are two extra berths available, making the ship suitable for overnight stays with a small group. The headroom in the cockpit is approximately 2.30 meters, creating a spacious feeling on board. The accommodation includes a dining area, mattresses, an electric toilet, and a compact galley. The kitchen is equipped with a 3-burner gas stove, refrigerator, and freezer. The water supply consists of a 100-liter water tank and a 60-liter holding tank. The toilet discharge is connected to the waste system and does not directly enter open water. Technology and Propulsion The sloop is powered by a Leyland DAF inboard diesel engine with a capacity of 45 hp. This three-cylinder engine, built in 1981, features an electric starting system and has approximately 700 operating hours. The cruising speed is around 10 km/h, with a maximum speed of about 15 km/h. The fuel tank has a capacity of approximately 100 liters. Onboard, various gauges are present, including a fuel tank gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and tachometer. The electrical system operates on 24V and includes an alternator, voltmeter, and shore power connection. The electric bilge pump enhances onboard safety. Exterior Equipment and Deck Gear The exterior equipment of the sloop includes a canopy, outdoor deck covers, fenders, lines, and a swim ladder. There is one anchor attached with a chain. Steering is done via a wheel on the aft deck, providing clear and direct control. Usage and Applications This cabin sloop has been used in the past for various purposes, including recreational boating, holidays, weekend trips, day outings, and commercial activities such as team building and networking events. Due to its spacious layout, the ship can accommodate up to 20 people, making it an attractive option for group outings on the water.
