Albatross is a former home guard cutter in the MHV 20 class, as number 5 out of a total of 6 built between 1978 and 1982. They were contracted as new fast patrol boats built in fiberglass-reinforced plastic, initially known as "The White Boats" before being repainted in the more common navy gray color. The vessels were constructed at Ejvinds Plastjolle and Boatyard, Rantzausminde. The MHV 20 class was designed to be a fast patrol and emergency response vehicle. With its relatively low weight and shallow draft, they had very low operating costs. MHV 24 was previously named Patrioten until it was retired from the Navy's home guard in 2000, and the name is now carried by MHV 800 class number 816. After this, the boat came under private ownership, and the ship was renamed Albatross. The vessel has been privately owned until 2021 when it was purchased by the current owner, who has reintroduced the ship as a commercial vessel under the Danish Maritime Authority with registration number OZYF. Since taking over, the current owner has carefully restored the vessel to its original condition while adding modern equipment as needed. Albatross was originally built for a crew of 9 people with 5 berths in the forward crew room and four in the aft, which also serves as the ship's galley and mess hall. At the front, in front of the forward crew room, there is a large toilet with a separate shower cabin, which has been carefully restored with, among other things, a new electric toilet. Furthermore, a bottom inspection of the vessel has been carried out, shafts have been pulled and inspected, and new seals have been applied. The screws have been polished, the cooling pumps have been checked. The topsides are painted, everything on deck is painted. A new Garmin Plotter has been purchased, a new EmTrak A200 AIS Class A. The vessel has also received a new anchor winch. All safety equipment in accordance with the Danish Maritime Authority's requirements. The vessel has now been imported and registered as a commercial vessel and has been declared worth preserving by the Ship Preservation Fund. In recent years, Albatross has been used for charter sailing, where it is permitted to sail with 12 passengers and has also been used as a mother ship for diving missions in Denmark. The owner has now invested in a new diving vessel and therefore wants to sell Albatross. An STCW certificate is required for the coastal skipper to sail the vessel for commercial purposes.
