Description

We are pleased to offer you this beautifully restored bakdekker. As befits a true classic, you are buying a piece of nautical history, a life story; The Bromo was built in 1932 to the design of Ir. J. Loeff - co-founder of the Waterkampioen - at G. de Vries Lentsch in Amsterdam. The penultimate owners extensively researched and corresponded, uncovering the intervening history. The "BROMO" was extensively restored between 1992 and 2008, from a completely new hull to a completely new interior, from a new engine to new electrics. Yet it is the original details that give the yacht its charm and flair; the lines speak for themselves; slim and elegant, resulting in beautiful sailing characteristics. The finish is meticulously detailed all around; from the toilet to the lights next to the mirror, from the original toggle switches on solid mahogany light fixtures. The complete restoration is of a rare high standard and comes with photos and documents. In 1992, the Bromo was stripped down to her ribs, in the following years in Walsoorden (Zeeuws-Vlaanderen) fitted with a new hull, fully blasted in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, then coated in a two-component paint system with a base thickness of 640mu. The Caterpillar engine was installed by specialists in Papendrecht. The engine room is fully equipped with tread plates and well insulated. In Papendrecht, preparations were made for all electricity for the generator, inverter, controls, and modern equipment such as radar, plotter, GPS, boiler, and kitchen appliances like fridge and hob. The 10kVA Lombardini generator offers sufficient capacity for a potential washing machine and/or microwave. The interior was crafted to the level of cabinetmakers by skilled ship carpenters in Hardinxveld-Giessendam. The finish of beautiful mahogany and ebony details, dovetail joints, and varnish give the appearance of similar ships from the 1930s. The toilet - a Baby Blake - is placed in a separate washroom, and a separate shower room is located in the bow of the ship. The ship is equipped with a blackwater tank. The entire ship has a 200-year-old oak floor laid in a parquet pattern, with screws concealed with wooden plugs. Aft is the captain's cabin, with a generously sized bed with two separate mattresses and ample storage space. The bench in the forepeak can be converted into a double berth. On deck, the beautiful teak deck stands out, and the skylight and hatch on the foredeck are custom-made to resemble ships from that era. The cabling for the radar is cleverly concealed in the railing on the wheelhouse roof. An article about the Bromo was featured in the watersports magazine De Waterkampioen, which we can send upon request. If interested, we invite you for a viewing in Elburg. For questions and/or appointments, you are welcome at Elburg Yachting seven days a week.
