Description

The Mulder Favoriet 7.2 is a unique steel motor yacht with a rich history. Built in 1953 by Jachtwerf D. Mulder, this vessel is the first model designed and built by Dick Mulder himself. Originally intended for his wife, this boat is a rare specimen of which only a few were manufactured. According to the current owner, this may be the last remaining example of this type, giving the boat a unique position within Dutch yacht building history. Dimensions and Construction The Mulder Favoriet 7.2 has a length of 7.20 meters, a beam of 2.55 meters, and a draft of 0.65 meters. The air draft is approximately 2.00 meters, making the boat suitable for various inland waters, canals, and lakes. The hull is made of galvanized steel with a hard chine design, contributing to stability and sailing characteristics. The superstructure is crafted from mahogany wood, providing a classic appearance. The decks and side decks are equipped with a non-slip coating for added safety on board. Interior and Accommodation The interior of the boat has largely remained in its original state, including the original curtains with an embroidered "F", referring to the name "Favorietje". The salon features a seating area with two sofas and a table that can be converted into a double berth. On the other side, there is an additional sofa that can also serve as a sleeping area. An electric toilet is located forward. The kitchen is equipped with a three-burner gas stove, a sink with faucet, and storage space. Beneath the kitchen counter is a cabinet with a jerrycan for water supply (40 liters). The refrigerator has been removed, but the space is still available. Engine and Technology The boat is powered by a Marine RC 35 E gasoline engine. The engine is equipped with a temperature gauge and a tachometer. For the electrical system, there is an alternator, as well as a voltmeter and two batteries. The onboard voltage is 12V. Additionally, there is a gas vapor detector instrument onboard, enhancing safety on board. Navigation and Equipment In terms of navigation, the boat is equipped with a log/speedometer. For deck comfort, various amenities are available, including a cockpit table, exterior cushions, fenders, lines, and a swim ladder. The boat has two anchors with line attachments. The deck covers are removable, allowing for flexible sailing: fully open in good weather or partially closed for protection against sun or wind. The helm position features a steering wheel and two fixed, foldable chairs. A bench with a cushion is located at the stern. For entertainment, there is a CD player with speakers onboard. Documentation and Ownership Documentation, including the original purchase contract from the previous owner who acquired the boat directly from Dick Mulder in 2006, is included with the boat. After her passing, the boat was inherited by the current owner. The boat is not registered. Known Points of Attention There are some signs of wear, including two small tears in a piece of canvas and discoloration of the white edges of the sails. Use and Sailing Experience The Mulder Favoriet 7.2 has been used for pleasure cruising, day trips, vacations, and weekend stays. Thanks to the removable sails and open cockpit, it is possible to sail both sheltered and in the open air. The boat has mainly been used on inland waters, canals, and lakes. The combination of steel and mahogany wood provides a distinctive appearance and an authentic sailing experience. Historical Value The Mulder Favoriet 7.2 is not just a functional vessel but also a piece of Dutch shipbuilding history. The boat has remained in its original state, including interior details from 1953. This makes the boat appealing to enthusiasts of classic motor yachts and collectors. Included Accessories Various accessories are included in the sale, such as ropes with fenders, kitchen utensils, tableware, mugs, and cooking pans. A trailer is not included. This Mulder Favoriet 7.2 offers a unique opportunity for enthusiasts of classic boats with a story. With its combination of authentic details, functional equipment, and rich history, this boat is a valuable addition to any boating season.
