Description

Scanmar 33  -  1984  -  £24,950 The Scanmar 33 is a very well-respected, robustly built Swedish cruiser-racer design by Rolf Magnusson from the mid 1980's. With its elegant lines, sparkling performance and practical yet comfortable layout it is an ideal choice for experienced sailors and newcomers alike With a powerful keel-stepped 7/8th fractional rig (this one with a new mast fitted in 2006), skeg supported rudder, generous sized T-shaped cockpit with wheel steering and an innovative interior plan that will accommodate larger crew numbers than many of her similar-sized competitors if required. 'Rumpleteazer' has started in three Fastnet races in the current ownership (completing two of them in 2009 and 2011) and is still in full commission and ready to be sailed, either competitively if that is your thing, or just efficiently fast cruised. With numerous updates and replacements having been carried out over the years by the current owner, including a brand new Volvo D1-30 engine and new saildrive fitted in 2020/21 with only 46 hours run since, and a brand new Facnor furling system fitted in June 2023. With only three ownerships from new, it seems that 'Rumpleteazer' has always been proudly owned and she is presented in a clean and serviceable condition.   ** The current berth at Sutton Harbour Marina, Plymouth valid until End March 2025 may also be available for transfer by separate negotiation **  ** E-Mail or Call us for a link to an extensive cloud based photo file** AccommodationUp to 7 berths in two separate sleeping cabins and saloon berthsForecabin: Twin 'vee' berths, with the port berth's head slightly wider and a rectangular footwell with an in-filling cushion over to provide a generous and relatively long and spacious V-shaped double berth for two. Light and ventilation via a forward-opening overhead deck hatch and fixed ventilator. Deep open shelving along each hull side. The plywood support panels under the forecabin berths were originally hinged (now unfastened) to offer moulded sail bins beneath the aft ends of the berths, abaft the water tank. Main Saloon:  A good size pedestal table is set to port within a U-shaped seating area, this table can be lowered to make a double berth when required, while a single settee berth is fitted to starboard. The main table can be supplemented by means of an independent, double-pedestal legged table that can be mounted in the cockpit too. A small centre-line hatch above the table lets additional light and ventilation to this main cabin.  JVC CD/radio mounted in the main saloon. Navigation Area:  A good sized aft facing chart table is mounted toward the aft end of the starboard settee berth, with radar and radios fitted outboard of the navigator's left shoulder and two independent chart plotters fitted to a bulkhead above the chart table.  Heads Compartment:  Located just aft of amidships and to starboard of the companionway, access to the heads is as convenient as could be wished for and once in the compartment the volume of space is relatively generous, with a Jabsco manual toilet mounted outboard and inset handbasin within a locker unit to the aft bulkhead. A 220-240V AC, 13 amp socket is fitted in this area. Aft Cabin:  Accessed through a double hinged door to port of the companionway, the aft cabin is notable for the generous size of centre-line berth, each side of which enjoys good sitting headroom beneath the cockpit seating. The cabin extends across the full beam of the boat beneath the cockpit well and is lit by fixed hull ports to either topsides. A half-height hanging locker is provided to either side, in each of the forward corners of the cabin. Ventilation and means of emergency egress from the cabin are offered by a 'cockpit locker'-style hatch above the starboard side of the berth and a Lewmar opening portlight on the centre-line of the cockpit's footwell lends light and ventilation.
