She isn't just a boat I've owned for a few seasons – in 2024 she carried me right around the UK, on a journey that became a huge part of my life and was documented along the way on my YouTube channel, The Bumbling Sailor. That trip gave me the opportunity to get to know Jeanie Stewart in just about every sort of sailing you could reasonably ask of a 30-foot yacht. We covered a lot of miles together, from quiet coastal sailing to long passages and some considerably less pleasant days at sea. Throughout it all she proved herself to be an incredibly dependable little boat. She looked after me when conditions weren't particularly friendly, and after sailing her all the way around Britain I came away with an enormous amount of confidence in her.The Scampi 30 has a reputation as a proper sailing boat, and Jeanie certainly lived up to it. These boats were designed in an era when sailing performance, seaworthiness and good manners at sea mattered more than squeezing the biggest possible accommodation into a given length. She is beautifully balanced, rewarding to sail and surprisingly capable for a boat of her size. She'll happily make progress in light winds, but it's when the weather gets up that I've particularly appreciated her – she feels reassuringly solid and predictable rather than giving you the feeling that you're asking too much of her.Perhaps the best endorsement I can give Jeanie is simply that I trusted her enough to sail her around the UK. Boats inevitably need maintenance and attention, especially when they're actually being used rather than sitting in a marina, but she never stopped being the boat that got me where I was going. By the end of the 2024 trip we'd shared an enormous adventure together, and a lot of Jeanie's story – including the good days, the difficult ones and the inevitable Bumbling Sailor moments – is there on YouTube for anyone interested in seeing what she's actually capable of.I'm genuinely sorry to be selling her. I've moved on to another boat and another chapter, but I'll always have a huge amount of affection for Jeanie Stewart. She deserves an owner who is going to sail her rather than leave her sitting on a mooring. For somebody looking for an affordable, proven and genuinely capable 30-foot cruising yacht – particularly someone with ambitions to go a little further than the local harbour – I think she'd make a fantastic boat. She has already taken one bumbling sailor around Britain. Hopefully her next owner will take her somewhere equally interesting."
