Colvic Watsun 2.8 Adventurer – Polyester sailboat with character and functional equipment The Colvic Watsun 2.8 Adventurer is a polyester sailboat from 1979, built by the Bouwman shipyard in Kortenhoef and designed by Watson & Co. This vessel has a length of 9 meters, a beam of 3 meters, and a draft of 1.25 meters. The air draft is 12.30 meters, making the boat suitable for both inland waters and coastal areas. The hull is designed in an S-shaped form, contributing to stability and sailing comfort. Interior and living space Inside, the Colvic Watsun offers a headroom of 1.90 meters, providing a comfortable living space. There are four fixed berths available, divided between the cabin and the forward cabin. The accommodation is equipped with various amenities to facilitate onboard stays, including a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, freezer, and mattresses. For sanitary facilities, there is a manual toilet with direct discharge into open water. The boat has a 200-liter black water tank and a water tank of the same capacity. Heating onboard is provided by a hot air system, enabling stays during colder seasons. Engine and sailing characteristics The Colvic Watsun is powered by a Thornycroft diesel engine with 47 hp, distributed over four cylinders. The engine is electrically started and operational. Fuel consumption is around 1.5 liters per hour, with a 200-liter fuel tank. The cruising speed is approximately 15 km/h, with a maximum speed of about 25 km/h. The boat is equipped with an electric bow thruster, facilitating maneuvering in harbors and narrow waters. Steering is done via a wheel from the inside helm. The ship features a dual rudder system, enhancing maneuverability and control while sailing. Electronics and navigation In terms of navigation and electronics, the Colvic Watsun is equipped with a wide range of instruments, including a compass, log/speedometer, depth sounder, GPS, chart plotter, and VHF radio. The electrical system consists of three batteries, a battery charger, alternator, inverter, voltmeter, and shore power connection. The onboard voltage is 12V and 220V, enabling the use of household appliances. Sail equipment The Colvic Watsun has one aluminum mast and 2 sails. The sails have been recently replaced and are in excellent condition. This equipment makes the boat suitable for both recreational sailing and longer trips. The sail configuration is tailored for ease of use and stability, making the vessel accessible to both novice and experienced sailors. Equipment and extras On deck, the boat is equipped with a cockpit tent, deck covers, fenders, lines, and a swim ladder. There is one anchor for anchoring. The electric bilge pump contributes to onboard safety. The boat was recently out of the water in 2024 for maintenance and received a new antifouling layer in the same year. There are no signs of osmosis detected. Documentation and usage history The current owner has maintenance invoices from the past four years.
