BROKER'S COMMENTS The Swan 44 was designed by Sparkman & Stephens (design number 2112) and the model was built by Nautor's Swan in Finland between 1972 and 1978. It is a boat that still stands out as one of the true classics. With its elegant lines, narrow waterline, swept-back fin keel, and rounded stern, it has clear IOR characteristics. It is a boat that combines the joy of sailing, safety, and style in a way that few others achieve. The hull is built in solid hand-laid fiberglass, without core material. Stringers, frames, and a reinforced keel section are integrated into the laminate, providing a very stiff and solid hull, built to withstand stresses far beyond the safe waters of the archipelago. The Swan 44 has proven its capabilities both in racing and on long ocean passages. A clear example is the model winning its class in the well-known Newport to Bermuda Race, a race that demands a lot from both the boat and the crew. With its well-balanced hull shape, skeg-hung rudder, and relatively deep lead keel, the boat feels safe and responsive even in rough weather, while sailing fast and high. This is Sparkman & Stephens at its best. Owners on the Swan forum describe the boat as: "They are very heavily built but much more versatile and have better sailing characteristics than most blue water cruisers." Below deck, you are greeted by the warm, classic Swan feeling with joinery in Burmese teak, beautifully crafted and well-thought-out in every detail. Here you will find up to eight berths, a salon with a large table and two sofas, a practical L-shaped galley, and a larger navigation station - all designed to function even during longer offshore passages. This particular Swan 44, EXIT, is a well-maintained example from 1974. In recent years, she has undergone several upgrades, focusing on the hull, deck, sails, and systems. Among other things, she has a relatively new teak deck, freshly painted topsides, renovated underwater body, and a reinforced mast step area. The sail wardrobe from North Sails is of high quality and in very good condition. The interior is mostly original, preserving the classic Swan feeling but also giving the next owner the opportunity to update and put their own mark on it. In the Swan 44, older racing design, traditional craftsmanship, and uncompromising build quality come together. She is built for sailors who want a boat that sails really well, looks beautiful, and lasts for decades. Feel free to contact us for more information or to schedule a viewing. Key Facts: • New teak deck • Repainted topsides • Renovated underwater body • Renovated mast step beam • High-quality sails from North Sails in very good condition • Removable bowsprit and gennaker • IOR design • Retractable bow thruster • Electric winches • Autopilot • B&G plotter • VHF and AIS • Heater • Wind generator • Wireless depth transducer • Upgraded lifelines, lifeline gates, and supports OWNER'S COMMENTS The Swan 44 was named "Boat of the Year" at the London International Boat Show in 1973. I absolutely love this boat, both for how beautiful she is and how she sails. I have never had to change my plans because of the weather. The elegant lines always attract attention and turn heads in every port and marina I have docked in. The gray-tinted deck also gives a uniform and stylish impression that enhances the overall look. The Awlgrip paint on the topsides (2024) provides a deep gloss that stays mirror-like without needing polishing. Together with the classic design language from Sparkman and Stephens, this is a boat that is a joy to own and a pleasure to behold.
