Description

The Van de Stadt 33 Noordzee is a classic sailboat designed by the renowned Dutch yacht designer E.G. van de Stadt. This particular specimen, built in 1968 at the De Delta shipyard (vd Torre), is a steel S-shaped vessel with a continuous keel and a spade rudder. The boat measures 9.85 meters in length, 2.85 meters in width, and has a draft of 1.75 meters. The air draft is 14.20 meters, making the boat suitable for inland waters, coastal, and offshore sailing. Construction and Design The hull is made of steel, contributing to the ship's robustness and stability. The S-shaped hull design is known for its seaworthiness and comfortable sailing characteristics, especially during longer voyages on open water. Steering is done through a tiller in the open cockpit. The cockpit is self-draining and equipped with a sprayhood, pulpit, pushpit, and lifelines for added safety on deck. Interior and Accommodation Inside, the boat offers a headroom of 1.90 meters, creating a spacious feeling in the cabin. The current layout includes two fixed berths in the longitudinal direction of the main cabin, easily convertible into a double bed in the transverse direction. Additionally, two extra berths are available. Onboard amenities include a manual toilet with direct discharge to open water, an alcohol stove (gimballed), a sink with foot pump, and a 110-liter water tank. Heating is not present. Sail Equipment The sail plan consists of five sails: mainsail, roller genoa, cruising chute (Bolle Jan), spinnaker, and storm jib. The headsails are equipped with a furling system. The mast is aluminum, and the boat has a single mast. The condition of the sails is described as fair. This equipment makes the boat suitable for various wind conditions and longer sailing trips. Engine and Technology The engine is a Yanmar 3YM30 inboard diesel engine with 30 hp, installed in 2004. The engine has approximately 1000 running hours and is electrically started. The fuel tank has a capacity of 110 liters. The cruising speed is around 10 km/h. Onboard, there are gauges such as an oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and tachometer. The electrical system operates on 12V and is supported by a 30-watt solar panel. There is one 100 Ah battery onboard. Navigation and Safety For navigation, the boat is equipped with a depth sounder, GPS, compass (Sestrel Moore), and a Sailor VHF radio. Safety equipment includes a lifebuoy, a manual bilge pump, and a self-draining cockpit. A Plastimo 6-person life raft is included, but the last inspection was in 2018. This raft needs to be re-inspected before use. Maintenance and Condition The boat is currently on land. The bottom has been primed, and the current owner will apply antifouling before sale. Maintenance is needed on deck. The last time the boat was taken out of the water for maintenance was in 2025, along with the last antifouling treatment. History and Usage The current owner has had the boat for 30 years, using it for leisure sailing, holidays, and trips on inland waters, seas, including voyages to Helgoland, the German Wadden Sea, the Baltic Sea, and South England. Other Equipment Included in the sale are: a detachable swim ladder, fenders and lines, anchor with chain and line, and the aforementioned life raft. The Van de Stadt 33 Noordzee is a classic steel sailboat with a rich history and a proven design suitable for both inland waters and open sea. With its distinctive lines, functional equipment, and solid construction, this boat offers opportunities for sailors seeking a traditional yacht with potential for further personalization and use.
