Description

Twin-keeled Westerly Konsort (1986) Competitively priced at £14,950 Built in 1986 with yard No. D487/Sail No. KT631, ‘Peekay’ is good example of a mid-aged, Mk II Konsort, well spec’d originally, lightly used and currently owned by only the second owner from new. She appears to have benefited from ownerships capable of maintaining her to good standards. She is fully Part 1 registered. ‘Peekay’s bilge areas are dry, the teak veneers in good order and she has been professionally re-lined in the previous (original) ownership. The canvas work (sprayhood and ‘Stack Pack’-style sail cover), together with the primary sails have just been returned from a local sailmaker after being checked and cleaned. The standing rigging has just been replaced (Nov 2024). She is fitted with self-tailing sheet winches and a pressurised hot & cold water system, 240V AC shore support system and optional additional hatch over the main saloon. If you enjoy your sailing, want the benefits of voluminous accommodation and appreciate the build quality and the warmth of a honey-coloured teak wood finish of a prime Westerly-built yacht – all at under 30’, then this is a boat to view. Many more photos are available, contact us for details Accommodation Six berths in two cabins, with Westerly ‘Green Sea’ velvet upholstery and featuring professionally replaced head-linings (although there are currently a few individual areas that could now do with attention to prevent further detachment). The main saloon’s cushion covers have begun to fail through age and it has to be said that a new owner(s) will want to address this point promptly. For’cabin: Two generous berths (larger than in the Westerly 33!) can form a double by use of an in-filling cushion. A stainless steel water tank is fitted beneath the forward end of the berths, but the under-berth lockers beneath the head ends of the berths offer good volume. Deep fiddled shelves are fitted to either hull-side. Light and ventilation are provided by an overhead hatch and two opening portlights for cross-ventilation. 240V AC, 13 Amp socket. Heads Compartment: Provided with a Lavac marine-flushing toilet; pull-out handbasin and pressurised hot and cold water supply, with hand-pumped cold water back-up. Under-deck closed locker for bulk stowage. A large hanging locker to the opposite side of the vessel is fitted with a divider, with the intention of separating ‘wets’ from dry. In practice this area provides very practical bulk storage plus some hanging for clothing and/or jackets. Saloon: Parallel settee berths to port and starboard; the port side’s settee extends to provide a practical double berth between hull side and the centre-line mounted table. Generous single quarter berth to port side abaft the chart table. 240V AC 13A outlet socket at chart table. Chart Table: Chart stowage within a forward-facing independent chart table, with deep-fiddled open shelf running alongside the Navigators left shoulder for almanacs and tidal streams atlases for example. The chart table’s lid has been re-orientated, with its hinges fitted on the outboard edge of the lid for ease of access and opportunity was taken to provide a 12V DC electrical outlet for phone or GPS charging. Galley: L-shaped in form, to starboard of the companionway. Fitted with a stainless sink, electrically pressurised hot and cold water supply, with the standard foot-pumped cold water back-up. The original Flavell Vanessa cooker is still fitted, featuring two hob burners, a grill and oven. Two storage drawers; pans locker and dedicated crockery storage, plus a large under-deck storage locker. Mechanical and Electrical Systems Engine: Fitted with an indirectly cooled Volvo Penta 2002 marine diesel, rated at approx. 18 BHP; driving a fixed two-bladed propeller. A Spurs rope cutter is fitted ahead of the propeller and its associated anode has been replaced in readiness for the 2025 season. The Volvo Penta lip seal to the inboard end of the sterntube is a replacement, fitted in 2022. Electrical: The electrical systems have been updated and upgraded slightly with an additional circuit breaker panel supplementing the original panel, with two heavy duty batteries (1 x Numax 110 A/hr and 1 x Delco Voyager 120A/hr battery) switched through a rotary selector switch. Charging is by engine-mounted alternator with a 20A battery charger for use when connected to a shore supply. Sails and Spars A bermudan masthead sloop on Seldѐn mast (badged as a ‘Kemp Mast’), with a replacement ‘Furlex’ reefing system by Seldѐn on the for’stay. The standing rigging has just been renewed in November 2024. Halyards and reefing lines are led to banks of stoppers and two single-speed winches mounted at the aft end of the coach roof. Sails: The main working sails are original, but removed, checked and valeted prior to each winter. The mainsail stows within a ‘Packaway’ sail bag, supported by lazy jacks. Additional Sails include: Cruising Chute. Storm Jib. Navigation Equipment Stowe wind instrument. Log by PLastimo, giving speed and distance run. Nasa ‘Target 2’ echosounder giving depth. ‘Contest’ bulkhead-mounted magnetic compass. Deck Equipment Deck surfaces are finished in blue deck paint, with teak sheathing to the cockpit seats and diamond patterned Treadmaster to the cockpit sole beneath the optional teak gratings. Anchorman manual windlass. Barient 24 self-tailing headsail sheet winches. Barient 20, single-speed winches for halyards and reefing lines. Blue acrylic sprayhood on three-hooped frame (checked, valeted and new vinyl window panels stitched on 2025). Pair of named spray dodgers. Raymarine ST 2000 tiller pilot. Extendable tiller extension by Spinlock. Stainless steel folding bathing ladder to transom. Plough anchor, retained on one of two stem-head rollers. Outboard engine lifting derrick by Forespar on starboard quarter. Red ensign and
