The vessel is designed for recreational use on inland waters and lakes, accommodating four permanent berths. The boat features a round bilge hull and is steered with a tiller from the cockpit. The draft is 1.45 meters, making it suitable for various sailing areas within the Netherlands. The air draft is approximately 11 meters, allowing passage under most large bridges. Construction and Hull The hull is made of polyester, a commonly used material in recreational boating due to its strength and ease of maintenance. The boat has a single rudder and is equipped with a manual bilge pump. No osmosis or signs thereof have been observed. The boat is equipped with an anchor secured with chain and line. Safety nets are installed on the foredeck for added security. Sail Equipment The Dufour 1800 features an aluminum mast and comes with four sails: mainsail, jib, genoa, and spinnaker. The headsail has a furling system (Smartroller) for easier operation from the cockpit. The mainsail is equipped with lazyjacks. The condition of the sails is described as fair. The spinnaker is supplied with a spinnaker pole. Engine and Technology The boat is powered by a Volvo Penta MD5B diesel engine with 8 hp. This inboard engine has one cylinder and is electrically started. The engine is from the same year as the boat (1980) and has indicator lights for temperature and oil pressure. The fuel tank has a gauge. The engine was reportedly serviced in September 2024. In terms of electricals, the boat has three batteries, a battery charger, alternator, inverter, and shore power connection. The electrical system operates on 12V and 220V. Navigation and Communication Onboard navigation equipment includes a Clipper Duet speed and depth gauge, GPS, compass, log/speedometer, and an autopilot. Additionally, there is a VHF radio onboard, although no certificate is included. A radio is also present. Interior and Comfort Inside, the Dufour 1800 offers four berths, a navigation table, and a movable dining table. The galley is equipped with a 2-burner gas stove, sink with faucet, kitchen cabinet, and refrigerator. The water tank has a capacity of 50 liters. The toilet is manual and discharges directly into open water. The interior cushions are in good condition, while the cockpit cushions need replacement. Exterior Equipment The cockpit features a sprayhood, cockpit table, exterior cushions, swim ladder, fenders, lines, and lifelines. Additional equipment includes a flag with flagpole, boat hooks, deck brush, extra anchor, paddle, various extra lines, and decorative cushions. Documentation and Maintenance Various documents are included with the boat, such as invoices, manuals, and technical drawings. The boat is not registered. The last antifouling treatment and engine maintenance were carried out in 2024. The boat is lifted out of the water annually for maintenance and winter storage ashore. During winter, the sails, sprayhood, and cushions are stored indoors. The sails are washed and inspected for stitching every two years, with repairs as needed. Intended Use and Sailing Experience The current owner has used the boat for day trips, weekends away, and holidays, mainly on inland waters and lakes. Controlling the roller furling headsail from the cockpit enhances ease of use while sailing. The boat is described as stable and spacious, with pleasant sailing characteristics.
