Flat-bottomed Grundel from 1975 – Characterful steel sailboat with spacious cockpit and classic appearance This 1975 Grundel flat-bottomed boat is a steel sailboat measuring 9.20 meters in length and 3.30 meters in width. Thanks to its flat bottom and a draft of only 70 cm, this boat is ideal for shallow inland waters, canals, lakes, and rivers. With a clearance height of 2.40 meters, it can pass under low bridges, significantly expanding its navigational range. Designed for recreational use, such as day trips, weekend stays, and holidays on the water. Construction and layout The hull is entirely made of steel and features a wooden mast with gaff rigging. The boat is equipped with three sails: a mainsail, a jib, and a storm jib, all made of brown Dacron. The sails are in functional condition. The mast is wooden, adding to the ship's nostalgic appearance. The boat has a tiller steering and a single rudder, with the helm position outside in the spacious open cockpit. Inside, the boat offers a headroom of 1.92 meters, providing a comfortable living space. The accommodation includes a dinette that can be converted into extra sleeping berths, a fixed bed with new mattresses, a kitchen with a built-in cool box, and an additional cooler under the bench. Cooking is possible on 220V with shore power. There is a manual toilet onboard, renewed in 2024, with the waste directly discharged into the open water. Engine and technology The boat is powered by an inboard diesel engine from Peugeot Indenor, manufactured in 1980. This four-cylinder engine delivers 54 hp and has an electric starting system. The engine has approximately 3350 running hours and was serviced in 2025 by a specialized company. Fuel consumption is around 2 liters per hour, with a cruising speed of about 10 km/h and a maximum speed of 12 km/h. The fuel tank has a capacity of 60 liters. The electrical system includes an alternator, shore power connection, voltmeter, and two 100 Ah batteries. The onboard voltage is 12V and 220V. The engine's electrical system needs to be checked. Navigation lights and GPS are present but not fully connected. Navigation and equipment For navigation, the boat is equipped with a depth sounder, GPS, compass, log/speedometer, and a VHF radio. This equipment allows for safe and efficient navigation on various inland waters. The boat comes with two anchors with chain and line, fenders, lines, and a well-maintained cable ring. The cockpit features a cockpit table, cockpit tent, and exterior deck covers. The self-draining cockpit enhances onboard safety. Other features The boat weighs approximately 5000 kg and is not registered, but documentation for both the boat and the engine is available. The boat was recently (2024) taken out of the water for maintenance and received a new antifouling layer. Intended use and sailing experience The Grundel has been used for leisure sailing, day trips, weekend stays, and holidays. Its shallow draft and low clearance height provide a vast navigational area, suitable for inland waters, canals, ditches, lakes, and rivers. The combination of a spacious open cockpit, classic appearance with a wooden mast and brown sails, and a practical layout inside makes this flat-bottomed boat appealing to enthusiasts of traditional sailing with comfort.
