Dufour 31 now in the online auction. Everyone can bid until February 16, 2026. Dufour 31 – Classic sailboat with character and seaworthy performance The Dufour 31, designed by the renowned French yacht designer Michel Dufour, is a classic polyester sailboat known for its solid construction, pleasant sailing characteristics, and comfortable layout. This 1977 model offers an excellent balance between sailing performance and living comfort, making it an attractive choice for sailors looking for a characterful vessel with potential for both day trips and multi-day sailing adventures. Dufour 31 now in the online auction. Everyone can bid until February 16, 2026. Design and sailing characteristics With a length of 9.50 meters, a beam of 3.20 meters, and a draft of 1.80 meters, the Dufour 31 offers stable and course-stable sailing behavior. The hull is round-bilge and made of sturdy polyester, contributing to the robust appearance and seaworthy nature of the vessel. The keel and well-balanced sail plan provide a good combination of speed and stability, making the yacht well-suited for both inland and coastal waters. Steering is done via a tiller in the spacious cockpit, which comfortably accommodates four people. The cockpit features a sprayhood, cockpit table, and comfortable seat cushions, enhancing the deck stay. The wide side decks and the thoughtful placement of halyards and sheets – mostly led to the cockpit – make the vessel easy to handle, even with a small crew. Interior and onboard comfort Inside, the Dufour 31 offers a surprisingly spacious cabin with a headroom of approximately 1.95 meters, exceptional for a vessel of this length. The layout is practical and focused on comfort during longer stays onboard. There are five fixed berths and an additional berth available, spread across a forward cabin, a salon with a dinette, and an aft cabin. Mattresses are present, and the interior space features a dining area, a stove, and a refrigerator. The heads compartment is equipped with a manual toilet, whose pump was renewed in 2023. The water supply consists of a 120-liter flexible water bag with an electric pump, renewed in 2021. The toilet discharge is directly connected to the outside water. Sail equipment and rigging The sail plan includes a mainsail, genoa, jib, and spinnaker. The genoa was renewed in 2020 and is in good condition, while the mainsail is older but still functional. The headsails are equipped with a furling system, simplifying reefing and sail changes. The aluminum mast and boom are classically designed, adding to the ship's authentic look. Technology and equipment The Dufour 31 is equipped with a Volvo Penta MD2020 20 hp inboard diesel engine, with three cylinders and electric start. This engine was installed in 2010 and is mainly used for harbor maneuvers. Regular maintenance was carried out in 2024, including replacing the impeller, diesel filters, and engine oil. The electrical system comprises two batteries with a total capacity of 200 Ah, one of which was replaced in 2025. Onboard power supply includes 12V and 220V connections, a battery charger, alternator, inverter, and shore power connection. Navigation equipment is present in the form of an autopilot (purchased in 2023), GPS, depth sounder, compass, and VHF radio. This equipment makes the vessel suitable for both short trips and longer voyages. Additional equipment and possibilities On deck, the vessel is equipped with a swim ladder, pulpit and pushpit seats, lifelines, fenders, and lines. Two anchors with chain and line are available. Below deck, the ship comes with various utensils such as crockery, glasses, a kettle, and cleaning supplies. There is also a mount for a tablet under the sprayhood, convenient for digital navigation. Although there are some points to note, such as a leak in a shroud and a non-working wind gauge, this vessel provides a solid foundation for those seeking a characterful sailboat with space, sailing enjoyment, and expansion possibilities. Summary The Dufour 31 is a classic sailboat with a timeless design, suitable for sailors who value a spacious layout, pleasant sailing characteristics, and solid construction. With its stable sailing behavior, comfortable interior, and comprehensive equipment, this vessel is an interesting option for those looking for an affordable and characterful sailboat for recreational use on inland and coastal waters.
