The Island Packet 35, designed by Robert K Johnson and built by Island Packet Yachts in Florida, USA, is one of the most well-known Cruiser boats from the USA. Not as common in Europe but have always had a great reputation and is well known around the world as top quality, stable and safe ocean cruising boats. The IP35 was built from 1988 and in a series of 178 boats. Following years, they build the IP350 and the IP349 in same sizes as well as a variety of even larger versions. In a review in 2000, the famous yacht designer Robert Perry praised the style of the Island Packet 35 and wrote, "the Island Packet combines contemporary hull design with the forgiveness of a long keel to give the owner an easily handled yacht that takes care of itself with little helm assist. This is what a long keel boat should do.”. The Island Packet 35 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with teak wood trim. It has a cutter rig with anodized aluminum spars, a raked stem, a vertical transom, a keel-mounted rudder controlled by a wheel and a fixed long keel. It displaces 17,500 lb (7,938 kg) and carries 8,000 lb (3,629 kg) of ballast. The design features a platform-type bowsprit. The boat has a draft of 4.50 ft (1.37 m). All the specifications that make her an ideal choice for serious cruising and long offshore passages. The IP35 offers excellent interior volume with a spacious layout, generous storage, and the warm charm of teak joinery throughout. The roomy cockpit, wide side decks, and thoughtful layout ensure safety and comfort at sea or in port. Sleeping accommodation for seven in two double cabins and convertible saloon. Interior fitted out with teak oil finished joinery and fawn colored upholstery. Access to the saloon from the cockpit is by teak oiled companion way steps. The saloon has a dining area to port with seating for at least 6. This converts to a double berth, with the settee to starboard forming a single berth. Aft of the dining area to port is a rearward facing chart table opposite a U-shaped galley to starboard equipped with: Twin stainless-steel sink 3 burner Techimpex gas cooker with oven and grill (gas safety certificate March 2020). Microwave oven, Adler-Barber refrigerator with freezer compartment. (A new compressor needed) Access to the aft cabin is via a doorway adjacent to the chart table. Aft cabin has a double berth with orthopaedic foam mattress plus storage and hanging locker. Access to the forepeak is via a doorway in the main bulkhead adjacent to the mast step. Forepeak cabin has a double V berth with storage lockers below and other adjacent storage. The heads compartment, to port of the access way to the forepeak cabin, is accessed by a "Jack and Jill" type door from both the fore cabin and the main saloon. It is equipped with Jabsco marine toilet, stainless steel hand basin and shower. New seat cushions and fabrics in 2025. Main saloon and cabins are equipped with a couple of “Silent Run" cabin fans and LED and conventional lighting. There is a Marineair air conditioning and cabin heating installed but not functioning. The existing system could be re-used with a new unit. The current owners have sailed her in the Mediterranean, but due to family situation and job careers they no longer have the time to use the boat as much as they would like and want to let her move on to a new owner.
