Sturgeon 28 now in the online auction. Everyone can bid until November 24, 2025. Sturgeon 28 from 1976 - Polyester sailboat with classic lines General overview of the Sturgeon 28 The Sturgeon 28 is a polyester sailboat of Dutch origin, built in 1976 by the Fibocon shipyard in Kampen. The design comes from Kok-Muiden, a well-known name in Dutch yacht building. With a length of 8.40 meters, a width of 2.80 meters, and a draft of 1.25 meters, this vessel is suitable for both inland and coastal waters. The air draft is 11 meters, allowing it to pass under most bridges. The hull is in an S-shaped form, contributing to stable sailing behavior, especially in rough seas. Sturgeon 28 now in the online auction. Everyone can bid until November 24, 2025. Interior and accommodation Inside, the Sturgeon 28 offers a headroom of 1.80 meters, providing a comfortable living space. The layout consists of a doghouse with a mattress, a dining table with two benches on either side, and a forepeak that has recently been renovated with a bulkhead. There is currently no mattress in the forepeak. The boat features a manual toilet in a separate room, equipped with new hoses and rubbers. The toilet discharge goes directly into open water. A refrigerator and a stove are part of the basic amenities on board. There are three fixed berths and two additional berths available, making the boat suitable for short stays with multiple people. Engine and technical installation The Sturgeon 28 is equipped with a Volvo Penta MD6 inboard diesel engine with a power of 12 hp. This two-cylinder engine is electrically started and is from the same year as the boat. The engine is operational and runs smoothly, although there is some light smoke development. The engine room has a bilge pump and four recently replaced valves for the toilet, sink, and engine intake. The fuel tank has a capacity of 10 liters. The electrical installation includes an alternator, inverter, and shore power connection. Two batteries with a total capacity of 200 Ah provide onboard power. The existing gauges, such as the oil pressure gauge and tachometer, are currently not functioning. Electronics and navigation In terms of navigation, the boat is equipped with a depth sounder, compass, and log/speedometer. The electrical features like the refrigerator, interior lighting, and navigation lights are operational but require inspection. There are 220V outlets powered by shore power and inverter. The onboard voltage is 12V and 220V. Sail equipment and rigging The Sturgeon 28 has one aluminum mast and three sails: a jib, a genoa, and a mainsail. The condition of the sails is described as fair. The genoa has a reefing system. There is no roller system for the mainsail. Steering is done via a tiller in the open cockpit. The rudder is single-bladed. A separate stainless steel mast lowering system is present but not mounted. Deck equipment and safety On deck, the boat is equipped with a sprayhood, fenders, lines, a lifeline, and a swim ladder. The sprayhood shows wear at the seams and needs repair. An anchor with chain and line is available. The cockpit is self-draining, and there is a fire extinguisher onboard. Maintenance and condition of the underwater hull The boat has been out of the water for a while for maintenance on the underwater hull. During this time, the underwater hull was stripped, primed, and antifouled. This treatment is scheduled for 2025. During this maintenance, four valves were also replaced, and the hoses were renewed. The toilet has new gaskets and valves. There is some light osmosis on the hull. The electrical installation is functional but needs attention. A leak has been identified at the escape hatch. History and usage The history of the Sturgeon 28 is largely unknown. The original name of the boat was "Ursa Major," and it was previously located on the Veerse Meer. The boat has been used on inland waters, lakes, and seas, mainly for recreational sailing, day trips, and weekend stays. The current owner describes the boat as steady on course and easy to sail solo. The engine is perceived as fuel-efficient. Special features and included materials Various materials are included in the sale, such as seat cushions, small repair materials, and a 100-liter water bag for the forepeak. The boat weighs approximately 3,000 kg and is not registered. There is no documentation available. The Sturgeon 28 offers a classic sailing experience with a functional layout and a solid foundation for further optimization.
