Description

The Kievit 680 is a polyester cruising sailboat that enjoyed great popularity in the 1970s and 1980s. This 1985 model combines the characteristics of a larger boat with the agility and simplicity of a compact sailboat. With a length of 6.80 meters and a width of 2.30 meters, this boat offers a stable and comfortable sailing experience on inland waters and lakes. The deep and sheltered cockpit, as well as the high freeboard, contribute to a safe and pleasant voyage, even in changing weather conditions. Construction and design The hull of the Kievit 680 is made of polyester and has a V-shaped bottom, which contributes to stability and course-keeping. The boat is steered with a tiller and has a unique rudder system at the rear. This model is designed for recreational use and offers a good balance between space and functionality, making it suitable for both day trips and short stays on board. Interior and sleeping accommodations Inside, the Kievit 680 offers sleeping space for four people. The cabin is equipped with mattresses. Although the layout is simple, it provides enough space for weekend getaways and day trips on the water. The presence of a cockpit with deep seating allows the crew and passengers to sit sheltered while sailing. Engine and sailing characteristics This model is equipped with a Yamaha BF75 outboard engine with a power of 7.5 hp. The engine is manually started and runs on gasoline, with a fuel tank capacity of 12 liters. The cruising speed is approximately 8 km/h, while the maximum speed is around 12 km/h. The engine is suitable for leisurely sailing on inland waters and lakes, providing enough power for relaxed outings. Equipment and maintenance The Kievit 680 comes with basic equipment, including a swim ladder and an anchor. The last antifouling treatment was carried out in 2022, and the boat was taken out of the water for maintenance in the same year. As a former rental boat, the hull shows signs of wear, including some scratches and damaged rubbing strakes. There are no signs of osmosis observed. History and usage This boat has served as a rental boat and has seen many days of recreational sailing. The design and sailing characteristics make it suitable for various applications, including leisure boating, day trips, and weekend getaways.
