UNIQUE DANISH MAHOGANY YACHT * EXTREMELY WELL-KEPT EVERYWHERE * WELL-EQUIPPED For a complete description, photos, and video, visit: www.yachtdreams.dk https://yachtdreams.dk/b-de/4176-mahogny-sejlb-d-32 - Luxury and the joy of owning a very beautiful vessel. - Built in Denmark in 1959 by boat builder Henry Søgaard from Aarhus. - Oak frames, laminated ash planking, 32 mm mahogany cladding, teak deck, and teak cockpit. - The boat has a long keel, is ready to sail, and is in exceptionally good condition. - Always been in the same family's ownership. When strolling on the harbor, some boats immediately catch the eye. That's exactly the case with this very beautiful and well-maintained vessel. It boasts shiny surfaces, noble woodwork, and fine lines. The craftsmanship and the owner's joy in maintaining, owning, and sailing such a beautiful vessel shine through. The lovely sailing yacht bears the melodious name: "Silja." She is a vessel that is, and always has been, in absolutely fine and seaworthy condition. Today, she is owned and sailed by the 2nd generation of the family that bought her brand new in 1959. "Silja" has taken her skippers on many wonderful trips in Denmark and in our Scandinavian waters. Naturally, "Silja" has also ventured to warmer climes in the Mediterranean sun - and back again - in a distinguished manner. INTERIOR AND COMFORT: Even from a distance and before stepping on board, one can sense the unique maritime atmosphere that "Silja" offers. The large inviting stainless steel and teak bowsprit provides easy access to the foredeck. Here, equipped with double roller furling, where both jib and genoa present themselves nicely and easily. The teak deck is really fine and luxurious, providing access aft to the lovely cockpit. Everything here is in the right maritime style. The cockpit features thick teak on both locker benches and the floor. There is ample space around the cockpit table as well as good room for maneuvers under sail, as the boat has tiller steering. The tiller is equipped with a "cradle" on the cockpit coaming, allowing the tiller to be easily and elegantly secured in any direction. A nice little detail that can bring great joy. Alternatively, one can of course use the autopilot during times when they do not wish to steer manually. When going below deck, one is surprised by how bright and lovely "Silja" appears. There is plenty of natural light shining beautifully through the many toughened glass windows. The size and spaciousness below deck are other great features of the vessel. The layout is quite special, as there are 2 saloons in the boat. The first saloon serves as a navigation and living area. Moving forward in the vessel, we encounter the galley and then the second large saloon. Here, a double sofa arrangement surrounds the central table in a traditional manner. In the forepeak, there is a closed toilet room and a forward cabin with sleeping space. Additionally, on the starboard side aft, there is a small pilot berth. There is good headroom throughout below deck: 190 cm in the forward saloon, 182/190 cm in the main saloon, and 176 cm in the forepeak. CONDITION AND MAINTENANCE: "Silja" is built on oak frames and laminated ash planking. The cladding is made of 32 mm thick mahogany. The deck and cockpit are teak. The original teak was 15 mm thick, and today it is approximately 10 mm thick. The teak is laid in Sikaflex and screwed on. The boat is riveted with bronze rivets. The keel bolts are stainless steel, and there is a cast iron keel. Sea valves are also bronze. The deck over the saloon is built with marine plywood with fiberglass on the coachroof. All windows are made of toughened glass, except for the 3 small windows by the sprayhood, which are acrylic/polycarbonate. All exterior woodwork from the waterline up is coated with Coelan instead of varnish. The teak deck is, of course, untreated. The Coelan product is from Hempel and typically lasts about 8 years without renewal. Coelan was first applied in 2011 after removing all old varnish. Four years ago, everything was sanded and then treated twice with new Coelan. Coelan has also been used below deck on the cabin sides, among other areas. There are also sections below deck with regular varnish. You can read about the Coelan product here: https://hellers.dk/shop/?brand=1-coelan-boat-coating Everything onboard works technically, except for the log, the old GPS, and the echo sounder. The 3 sails are in good condition considering their age. They are all usable and appear well-maintained, white, and neat. The hull has been repainted with Red Mille from Hempel, and the boat has naturally been stored on land every winter. The boat has never been damaged or involved in an accident and is completely watertight. The engine and cooling system have been regularly maintained and serviced with new filters, oil changes, anodes, etc. WELCOME ABOARD: "Silja" should be seen in person to truly appreciate her beauty. We are more than happy to show her to interested buyers who value fine craftsmanship and a true wooden vessel. She is currently in the water, rigged, serviced, and fully ready for a quick departure.
