The Pintail 27 was built in the 1970s at the Rossiter shipyard in England, oversized and of robust quality, seaworthy with a Lloyd's 100 A1 Yacht certificate. The hull and deck are made of polyester, with solid lacquered wooden parts such as the cockpit, foot - and handrails, deck hatch, etc. With the long keel and bilge keels, upright grounding is easily achievable, making the Pintail very suitable for exploring tidal waters such as the Wadden Sea. This Pintail is one of the few models equipped with a retractable wooden gaff rig. Both the jib and staysail are roller reefed and can be operated from the cockpit. The anchor is raised with the manual windlass on the foredeck. The cockpit is low but well-protected behind the superstructure and high cockpit coamings. The mainsail can also be reefed by partially rolling it on the boom. This Pintail was sold to the Netherlands in 1978 and has been owned by the current and second owner since 2002. During the winter, the boat is stored indoors in a shed. The Lister Petter diesel engine receives annual maintenance and is in good working order. The interior is beautifully finished with solid mahogany and looks spacious thanks to the raised superstructure with a headroom of approximately 1.80m. Next to the cabin entrance, to starboard, there is a hanging locker with a foldable chart table. To port, there is a very functionally equipped galley, with sink, compressor fridge, gimbaled stove, and various storage options for galleyware. The settees can also be used as berths, with plenty of cupboard space behind the backrest. Above the starboard settee, there is an additional roll-up pilot berth. The cabin and forward cabin are separated by a hanging locker to port and a wet cell to starboard. The sink can be retracted when using the toilet. The V-berth with insert provides a spacious sleeping area for two people, with the anchor chain guide rail removable. The thoughtful design makes the Pintail a distinctive sailing yacht.
