The Van de Stadt Primaat is now in an online auction. Everyone can bid until October 27, 2025. Van de Stadt Primaat – Classic cruising sailboat with character General overview of the ship The Van de Stadt Primaat is a wooden sailboat from 1975, designed by the renowned Dutch yacht designer E.G. van de Stadt. This specific model was built according to a self-construction design that was popular among sailing enthusiasts in the seventies looking for a characterful and functional vessel. With a length of 7.05 meters, a beam of 2.10 meters, and a draft of 1.20 meters, this boat is suitable for inland waters and lakes. The air draft is 9.00 meters, making it suitable for a wide range of sailing areas within the Netherlands. The hull is made of wood and has a hard chine shape, contributing to the classic look of the vessel. Steering is done through a tiller in the open cockpit. The boat features a wooden mast and is equipped with a genoa and a mainsail. The genoa has a Furlex roller furling system, enhancing ease of sailing. The sails are from the brand Molenaar, a well-known name in the Dutch sailing world. Interior and accommodation Inside, the Primaat offers four fixed berths. The headroom is 1.00 meter, typical for a vessel of this size and age. The interior is simple, with mattresses as basic provision. Heating is not present, making the boat especially suitable for use in the warmer months of the year. The boat comes with a separate electrical cable and shore power plug, and has one battery with a total capacity of 5 kWh. Propulsion and technical details Propulsion is provided by a Yamaha outboard engine of the type FT8DMH, a long shaft model with a power of 8 hp. The engine is electric start. This engine was installed in 2005 and has approximately 80 running hours. The fuel tank has a capacity of 10 liters. The engine can be operated from the cockpit, facilitating maneuvering. Equipment and safety On deck, the boat is equipped with various amenities such as exterior deck cushions, a cockpit cover, pulpit and pushpit seats, fenders, lines, a lifeline, and a swim ladder. An anchor with chain is available for anchoring. An anchor windlass is not present. In terms of safety, a lifebuoy is provided. The boat comes with a storage trailer without a license plate made of iron, equipped with support legs and brakes. The trailer is in reasonable condition for short distances. Maintenance and condition The boat was last taken out of the water for maintenance in 2024. In the same year, the antifouling treatment was carried out. There is a slight damage on the cabin roof at the mast base. Furthermore, there are signs of wear and tear visible, which is common for a vessel of this age. Sailing experience and usage The current owner has owned the boat for 25 years and mainly used it for leisure sailing, holidays, and weekend trips. The Primaat has been primarily used on inland waters and lakes. The sailing characteristics are described as pleasant and suitable for both novice and experienced sailors. The boat is designed for cruising and offers a nostalgic sailing experience. Berth and availability The Van de Stadt Primaat is currently located in Friesland, a popular watersports region in the Netherlands. The boat is sold including the storage trailer and accessories. History and special features The Primaat is one of the few remaining sailing examples of this type. Van de Stadt's design is known for its seaworthiness and functional simplicity. The current owner has made numerous trips with this boat, first with four people and later with two. According to the owner, the boat exudes atmosphere and nostalgia, representing a typical example of Dutch yacht building from the seventies. This Van de Stadt Primaat offers a combination of classic appearance, practical sailing characteristics, and a rich history of use. Therefore, the boat is an interesting choice for enthusiasts of traditional sailboats with a unique story.
