An Outstanding Sailboat: The 3/4-TON ICON That Marked Niels Jeppesen’s Breakthrough with X-Yachts If you want to sail past almost every other boat in its size class—both in height and speed—this fine X-3/4-ton might be the right boat for you. We’ve pampered and refined this boat, restoring it with elegant details it wasn’t originally born with. This is a second-generation model (MK-II), featuring an elliptical keel and rudder. With around 2 tons of lead keel on a 3.4-meter-wide hull, the boat is very stable, and with its newer mast and rod rigging, you’ll have a vessel that will serve you well for many years to come. The hull is built using a Kevlar-reinforced sandwich construction, which makes it light, stiff, and free from condensation. Below deck, the boat has everything you need: galley, toilet, chart table, four large berths plus two smaller sea berths that are also safe sleeping spaces for children. There’s an impressive amount of storage space for both sails and provisions, and a particularly large cockpit for both relaxation and sailing. We use four sailing chairs that offer the advantage of allowing you to turn in the sailing direction without having to sit with a twisted neck all day. A truly fine boat for those who value performance—perhaps for weekly racing—and at the same time want a comfortable family cruiser at a modest price. In the harbor, you’ll always be met with curious glances and sailors asking about this iconic boat, instantly recognized by anyone familiar with X-Yachts. The following has been replaced or renovated within the past two years: Gisatex deck covering, fully glued with Tec-7, and rail edges painted with two-component lacquer New solid teak toe rails on both sides Four stainless steel folding mooring cleats New Orbit blocks for mainsheet and traveler New blocks for jib sheet track Both upper and lower rudder bearings replaced New water tank (Plastimo bladder tank) Pressure water pump New batteries, with separate starter and house banks connected via relay New Victron charger New generator New sprayhood mounted on stainless steel frame The boat is sold with many sails (1 mainsail, 1 jib, 2 genoas, 2 spinnakers) in average condition, and considering its age, it’s in very good shape. It has primarily been used for private sailing rather than racing, which has helped preserve its condition. The boat can be viewed and experienced in the water at Høruphav Boat Club.
