**For Sale: Dehler 38** Why are we selling our boat? We are parting with our beloved Dehler 38 because our daughter has developed seasickness over the past few years. We are now looking for a heavier boat with a center cockpit, hoping it might alleviate the situation somewhat. When we purchased the boat back in 2016, it had two toilets. We decided to remove one toilet and install a new toilet and holding tank, so we now have just one toilet. We also replaced the skylights (4 years ago) and installed a new lazybag (4 years ago). The sails (genua and Elvstrøm mainsail with continuous sail battens) are from 2012; we do not know the age of the others. They have been regularly inspected and maintained. In total, there are 3 mainsails (2 Elvstrøm and 1 Neil Pryde), 1 storm jib (Elvstrøm), and 2 genuas (1 North Sails and 1 Elvstrøm), along with a spinnaker included in the sale. The rigging has been professionally updated, including a new mast step, fittings, and mast reinforcement. We have also installed a new 20kg Rocna Vulcan anchor and an electric windlass. All sea cocks were replaced at the local yard at the time by Truedesign. The bottom was completely refurbished in 2017 at the boatyard; it was primed (with 4 layers of gelshield and 2 layers of tar2) and antifouled with VC 17. We have since switched to VC Offshore. You may notice a small cosmetic damage on the hull. It was something that the yard discovered by chance, so we had it repaired immediately. The color on that section is not an exact match, so you can still see where the damage was. This is purely cosmetic and can be made more presentable if the color is matched better. The electrical panel was reviewed and updated about 5 years ago. The shaft, stern tube, and engine mount have been replaced (original Volvo Penta). The engine has also been maintained regularly, meaning oil, filters, and impellers have been replaced as needed. The oil cooler was changed in 2020. We have fitted a 6-person Viking liferaft, which is due for servicing in May 2026. The boat features an Aries wind vane, which we have greatly appreciated. Solar panels were installed (4 years ago) on the sprayhood, allowing us to remove or attach them using Velcro. Throughout summer 2025, during our trip to Sweden (nearly 5 weeks), we did not need shore power at all. We also did not use shore power during our shorter summer vacations in previous years. The solar panels efficiently handle our consumption for refrigeration, lighting, water usage, and various small devices. The chart plotter is older; last year we transitioned to using a tablet for navigation. We have owned this boat for about 10 years during our daughter's upbringing; thus, the cushions show some wear and would benefit from new covers. We do experience some moisture in the rudder, which is typical for this type of boat. Our yard has monitored it regularly and assessed it as quite manageable as long as we stay on top of it. Invoices for various visits to the boatyard can be provided upon request. All original parts from toilets, windows, etc., are still available and can easily be included in the sale. **Summary of Equipment List:** - Depth sounder - Log - Older chart plotter (Garmin 720s) - AIS (transmitter and receiver) - Aries wind vane - Electric self-steering for wind vane - Hydraulic self-steering (not connected and unreliable) - Solar panels (110W; we haven't used shore power in summer since installation) - 1000W Vetus windlass with 50m of 8mm chain - 20kg Rocna Vulcan anchor - Cockpit tent - Ray 63 VHF radio - Liferaft (due for servicing in May 2026) - Victron charger - Four USB ports - Eberspächer oil heater If you’re not interested in the wind vane, liferaft or other items, we’re happy to remove them from the sale price accordingly. Please feel free to contact us; we are ready for a showing. The boat is currently in the water, so we're also open to a short test sail if desired.
