Maxi 108, no. 54 - 1981 I had a dream of embarking on a long sailing journey, but changing life circumstances have led me to decide to sell and let someone else make the trip instead! As I aimed to travel far, I have made some updates and acquired spare parts that I thought would be good to have on hand in case something breaks along the way. For instance, I replaced the engine with a TMD22 from 2001 with 76 hp. The idea behind installing this engine was to be able to navigate through any headwinds and rough seas when tired, hungry, wet, grumpy, or in a serious emergency. The engine is powerful and can propel the boat at 6 knots in 15 m/s headwinds and rough seas without any issues. In calm weather, the cruising speed is 6.5 knots at 1600 rpm and slightly faster if desired. The engine underwent a major overhaul in 2024 by a professional, including a new turbo, refurbished injection pump, new starter motor, cleaned cooling system, and new engine mounts. It starts easily and runs very smoothly. The drive received a new lower seal and bellows, both in excellent condition. (There is an identical spare sail drive also with a new seal and bellows). It is equipped with a 2-blade Varifold propeller, which performs well in reverse, and there are also 2 fixed spare aluminum propellers in case of emergencies or for navigating through pack ice. I have cleaned the diesel tank and installed a level sensor in it. The steering is Edson, with no play in the rudder bearing and no leaks at the rudder post. There is an almost new fixed windshield and sprayhood including a cockpit cover. A mainsail in good condition, 2 genoas in good condition. Lewmar 42 self-tailing winches. New spare exhaust elbow. Autopilot st3000. Garmin 525 plotter. 1 starting battery 75 Ah. 2 consumption batteries 75 Ah. Uninstalled 1000 W inverter. Uninstalled VHF. Uninstalled 25A battery charger. Uninstalled 100 W solar panels including regulator. 60 m chain, 17 kg cqr anchor including Lofrans electric windlass. 2 spare anchors. Jabsco twist-n-lock toilet. 100-liter septic tank with deck pump-out and sea discharge. 200 liters of fresh water. 120 liters of diesel (cleaned tank!). The hull was sandblasted, epoxy treated, and then painted with non-toxic antifouling paint. The foundation is solid, and I have completed some of the heavy work. The electrical system works fine but could use some tidying up here and there, which I haven't had time for. The septic tank is temporarily bypassed because I cleaned it and then never reconnected it. The heater is not connected, and its function is uncertain; I haven't tested it, but there is a system in place that makes it easy to simply replace the heater without much extra work. The boat is currently launched at Nynäshamns Segelsällskap on an ice-free dock and can be sailed/driven away immediately if desired.
