In the charming Noorderhaven, right in the heart of Groningen, lies a remarkable ship with character: the Kotter “STEADY, VK6”. Built in 1934 at the renowned Nicolaas Witsen and Vis shipyard in Alkmaar, this steel kotter represents the best of Dutch craftsmanship. With her elegant lines, round frames, and solid construction, she is a rare example of traditional maritime heritage that remains in perfect condition. The “STEADY” has a rich history. Once she sailed from Groningen deep into Eastern Europe and even across the Baltic Sea – a testament to her seaworthiness and reliability. Powered by a four-stroke Kromhout GS 108 engine from 1956 (60 hp at 1000 RPM), she runs smoothly and powerfully, with the characteristic sound that enthusiasts of classic ship engines adore. The engine has been fully overhauled and has since clocked only about 500 running hours. The vessel measures 14.53 m in length, 3.89 m in width, and has a draft of 1.72 m. With a water displacement of approximately 38 tons, she is robust and stable. The hull has been sandblasted and treated with a two-component Sigma system, both above and below the waterline, in new condition. The interior exudes warmth and craftsmanship, featuring oak paneling and a thoughtful layout: a wheelhouse with access to the engine room, comfortable mid- and forecabin with living accommodation, two cabins, and two berths. The “STEADY” is equipped with Kabola central heating, hot and cold water systems, shower, electric toilet, kitchen with four-burner gas stove and ship's oven, as well as various tanks (1000 l fresh water, 600 l wastewater). Technically, the ship is modernly equipped with features such as Mastervolt charger and inverter, AIS, Raymarine navigation system, Robertson autopilot, chartplotter, solar panel (340 W), and a 10 kVA Mitsubishi generator. With her permanent mooring in the Noorderhaven – one of the most beautiful spots in Groningen – the “STEADY” offers the best of both worlds: the tranquility of the water and the vibrancy of the city. A unique opportunity to own a piece of sailing heritage that is fully ready to sail and can be moved into immediately.
