The Albatross is a former Marine Home Guard cutter of the MHV 20 class, which No. 5 of a total of 6 built from 1978 to 1982. They were contracted as new fast patrol boats built in Fiberglass reinforced plastic, which initially went by the nickname "The White Boats" before being repainted to the more common navy gray color. The ships were built at Ejvind's Plastic Dinghy and Boatyard, Rantzausminde. The MHV 20 class was built to be a fast patrol and response vehicle. With their relatively limited weight and low draft, they had very low operating costs. MHV 24 was previously called Patrioten until she retired from the Naval Home Guard in 2000, the name is now borne by MHV 800 class no. 816. After this, the boat got a private owner, who renamed the ship Albatross. The ship has been in private ownership until 2021, when it was purchased by the current owner, who has reintroduced the ship as a commercial vessel under the Danish Maritime Authority with Reg. No. OZYF. Since his takeover, the current owner has carefully restored the ship to its original condition and at the same time added modern equipment to the extent necessary. The albatross was originally built for a crew of 9 people with 5 berths in the forward crew room and four in the aft, which also serves as the ship's galley and dining room/mess. At the front, in front of the front crew room, there is a large toilet with a separate shower cubicle, which has been carefully restored with, among other things, a new electric toilet. Furthermore, a bottom inspection has been made of the ship, shafts have been pulled and inspected and new seals applied. The screws have been polished, the cooling pumps overhauled. The freeboard has been painted, everything on deck has been painted. A new Garmin Plotter has been purchased, a new EmTrak A200 AIS Class A. The ship has also received a new windlass. All safety equipment in accordance with the Danish Maritime Authority's requirements. The ship has now been imported and registered as a commercial vessel and has been declared worthy of preservation by the Ship Preservation Fund. In recent years, the albatross has been used for charter sailing, where it has permission to sail with 12 passengers and has also been used as a mother vessel for diving assignments in Denmark. The owner has now invested in a new vessel for diving tasks, and therefore wants to sell the Albatross. An STCW certificate is required for the Coastal Skipper to be able to sail the ship for commercial purposes.
