Description

Thetis is a special clinker-built motor sailboat. Thetis was built in 1972 on Orø, the story goes that it was part of an apprentice piece. It is approximately 28 feet long, 2.55 meters wide, and has a draft of 1.20 meters. It is powered by a BMC Leyland 1800, 48hp engine that runs perfectly. There are 2 berths midship and 2 in the aft cabin. Galley and refrigerator (which probably should be replaced). There is a storage compartment in the forepeak with a small hatch. The canopy is a bit worn and has 2 tears on the starboard side near the zipper. There are some minor leaks in the cabin roof right at the corners of the stern, but they can be relatively easily patched, a simple way would be to apply a layer of epoxy with a clear mat over it. Finally, there is a roller jib that tore last season and retired. I have not replaced it with a new one, you can install a regular jib and take down the Furlex roller. About 3-4 years ago, I replaced the entire deck and the teak deck including 4 new supports and new deck beams in the front and wherever else needed. It looks a bit tired, but with a sanding and a coat of oil, it will look beautiful again. The engine has been serviced and had a new impeller every year, and a new circulation pump has also been installed. During the deck operation, I also replaced the shaft and clutch, including removing the old grease-packed stuffing box and installing a blackjack. The mast has been re-rigged, 2 meters of the base have been replaced. The hull is sound and does not take on water. It has been hauled out every year on Fejø and has been greased and had the zinc blocks replaced. It is a really fun and charming boat that turns heads in the harbor. The designer must have had a good eye for Marstal schooners, Viking ships, and pirate ships and mixed it all up. Quirky as it is, it sails absolutely fantastic. We have had some really great trips with it around the South Sea islands and Zealand. The reason for selling is due to purchasing a larger boat. It needs a good round of varnish and oil. Please write if you have any questions, want to come by and see it/take a ride, or need more pictures. It is in the water in Guldborg and ready for a trip. It also comes with a boat trailer.
