Description

O8mCR "Glæden" is a 44-foot classic sailboat, designed by Christian Jensen in 1942 and built at Grimsøykilen Trebåtbyggeri in Skjeberg in 1952. The original name was "Veni", and the vessel is known for its many regatta victories. The boat is built with Oregon pine skin, oak in the frames, bows and keel. The vessel is built in a series of five sailboats according to Christian Jensen's drawings. All of these exist today, "Krabat" in England, "Arabella", "Christina" and "Vinga" are on Blommenholm. The original rig was replaced in 1968 with an aluminum mast and stainless standing rig. In the winter of 1986-87, "GLÆDEN" was completely restored at Risør Trebåtbyggeri A/S. The hull: The iron keel was removed and all bolts in the keel, bottom stock and bows were replaced with acid resistant A4 steel. New oak frames were laminated around the mast. The mast fish was changed and the bottom logs under the change to laminated ring frames which are connected to the oak frames. Bolts between frame and bottom logs are now acid resistant. In the skin, screws and bolts were changed to acid-fast ones. There is a sawn track between the board aisles where a molding has been glued in. The "skin" is then glued and "adjusted" and sanded, oiled and painted. - The rudder has been reinforced and the rudder area increased. Deck and superstructure: The deck was new in 1986 and built up with 2 layers of waterproof plywood that is epoxy-glued and nailed to the beams. One layer of 7 mm teak is glued and stapled (bronze cramp) to the veneer. The baseboard with teak wear frame is new. The cockpit is new. The cabin roof has been sanded down, Versatex fabric glued on and all mahogany is restored. New skylight over toilet. All mahogany is varnished in 10 layers with a 2-component polyurethane varnish. Furnishing: Toilet is new in 1986. Salon and push-in berths aft have been renovated. New seat and cushion covers have been sewn. The bow and galley have been refurbished. Equipment/engine: All technical systems are for new. New diesel tank at 110L. Yanmar Diesel 4JHE 44Hp engine from 1986 is still on board with self-adjusting propeller. In terms of hull, the vessel appears to be reasonably intact from 1952. The boat retains its original iron keel. Much has nevertheless changed since "Glæden" sailed from Grimsøykilen, everything from the deck to the rigging has been changed, and a number of new additions have been added to the interior. The boat's antiquarian value must therefore be assessed from a process-authentic perspective. It is foreseeable that all such vessels will change over time - partly to meet new requirements and expectations, partly because this type of vessel is always in private possession, and is shaped accordingly. She is well maintained by the same owner for the past 23 years, before sold to the current owner 2 years ago. Continuously upgraded for easier handling and comfort, and therefore suitable for a family, while retaining the boat's soul. Glæden has 6 beds; 2 in the bow, 2 in the salon and 2 aft, as well as a practical galley with two gas burners. New items in recent years including standing rigging, electrical system, acid-proof septic tank, windlass, sailing instruments, mahogany bathing ladder, joints, acid-proof 10mm anchor chain, solar panel etc. Boat mooring, storage shed and storage can be offered in Norway.
