Malö 36 – Daniella | 1997 A well-maintained and carefully updated Malö 36 from 1997, combining classic Orust craftsmanship, beautiful woodwork and a well-considered level of equipment for comfortable life on board. The Malö 36 is a classic long-distance cruising yacht built on the Swedish island of Orust, where solid craftsmanship, comfort and security are at the heart of the design. Daniella is an excellent example of the model and makes a very good overall impression. She has been meticulously cared for by her owners over the years, with ongoing upgrades to both technical systems and onboard equipment. Interior Stepping aboard, you are welcomed by a bright and inviting interior, featuring beautiful woodwork and the solid, traditional feel for which Malö yachts are renowned. The saloon benefits from generous natural light through both the side windows and overhead hatches. The light-coloured ceiling, finished with narrow wooden battens, further enhances the airy atmosphere. The saloon features a generous U-shaped settee to port and a straight settee to starboard. All seating areas are fitted with blue upholstery. The large saloon table is an attractive feature and can be extended when entertaining guests. There is also ample storage throughout the saloon. The well-designed L-shaped galley to port offers plenty of worktop space and storage. Double sinks, space for a dish rack, hot water, a spacious refrigerator and a cooker with oven make the galley well suited to extended stays on board. Dedicated storage is provided for saucepans, crockery and glassware. The aft cabin is spacious and inviting, with the same attractive woodwork found throughout the yacht. Two adults can sleep comfortably on the additional mattress topper. The cabin also provides a wardrobe and generous storage for clothing and personal belongings. The forward cabin offers good storage facilities, including two wardrobes. The berth is also fitted with an additional mattress topper, matching the upholstery used for the other cushions and mattresses on board. Spacious cockpit The cockpit is generously sized, with plenty of seating. The light-coloured cockpit enclosure creates an additional living space on board and can be opened up by rolling away the side panels and aft section. The cockpit enclosure is easy to fold down and stow forward against the sprayhood, which features fixed glass windows – a practical arrangement. The cockpit table comfortably seats four, while an extension allows space to dine with up to six people. Classic teak covers both the cockpit sole and the cockpit seating. In the evening, the lighting integrated into the arch illuminates the cockpit. The large steering wheel and well-arranged cockpit contribute to the overall impression of a yacht designed for comfortable cruising and extended periods at sea. Well equipped for sailing Daniella has a well-considered sail-handling setup, allowing the sails to be managed from the cockpit. The mainsail and genoa date from 2017 and are complemented by a furling staysail, a Seldén mast with full-length battens, a Harken headsail furling system and generously sized Andersen winches. A telescopic Seldén spinnaker pole from 2021, together with several upgrades to the rigging and deck equipment, further completes the setup. Updated technology The 47 hp Yanmar turbo diesel provides ample power for this 7.7-tonne yacht. The engine compartment is clean, well organised and very carefully maintained. The yacht is equipped with an AquaDrive flexible coupling, a fixed three-bladed propeller and a bow thruster. The propeller shaft, stuffing box and cutless bearing were replaced in 2023. The navigation equipment has been well updated and includes Raymarine Axiom Pro and Element displays, AIS and a Raymarine Evolution autopilot installed in 2023. The electrical system has also been upgraded, with Victron charging and monitoring equipment, solar panels and a 3,000 W pure sine wave inverter. Comfort for extended stays With 400 litres of fresh water, 235 litres of diesel, an Eberspächer heating system, hot water, a spacious refrigerator, multiple solar panels for battery charging and generous storage, Daniella is well equipped for extended stays on board. It is the overall package that makes the strongest impression. The beautiful wood interior, generous accommodation and classic Malö character are combined with a comprehensive range of upgrades carried out in recent years. The yacht presents very well and has clearly been maintained with great care. The engine compartment is clean and tidy, and the owner has placed considerable emphasis on maintaining, improving and keeping the yacht in excellent order. A fine example of the Malö 36 for anyone looking for a solid, Orust-built long-distance cruising yacht with classic character, a high level of comfort and a well-considered, updated equipment specification.
