Volker S-Spant is now in the online auction. Everyone can bid until March 16, 2026. Authentic Volker S-Spant Sailboat from 1965 – Classic Steel Sailing Ship with Character This Volker S-Spant from 1965 is a classic steel sailing ship with a rich history and a distinctive appearance. Designed by A. Volker and built at the SVGT shipyard in The Hague, this ship combines traditional shipbuilding with functional sailing properties. With a length of 7.80 meters and a width of 2.25 meters, this sailboat is compact enough for narrow waterways, yet offers enough space and stability for multi-day trips on inland waters, lakes, and even coastal waters. Volker S-Spant is now in the online auction. Everyone can bid until March 16, 2026. Classic design and stable sailing characteristics The hull of this ship is designed in the classic S-spant shape, providing a stable position in the water and a comfortable sailing experience, even in rough conditions. The deep keel and large overhangs contribute to good balance and course stability. The tiller steering on the outside provides direct control over the rudder, making the ship agile and responsive. Thanks to the traditional hull shape, the ship is easy to sail with minimal effort, appealing to both novice and experienced sailors. The sail equipment consists of five sails, including a mainsail (renewed in 2016), genoa, working jib, trysail, and storm jib. This variety allows for sailing under various weather conditions. The wooden mast adds to the ship's classic appearance and was replaced in the nineties with a slightly longer one, enhancing sailing performance. Comfortable and functional cabin The cabin is compact yet functionally furnished, providing sleeping space for two fixed and two additional persons. Inside, there is a seating area with benches, a small table, a navigation corner, and a simple cooking stove with sink and water tap. The headroom of 1.75 meters makes staying on board comfortable for most passengers. Sufficient storage space is available in the form of cabinets and storage compartments, and the lighting creates a pleasant atmosphere in the evenings. Although the ship is not equipped with a toilet or heating, it is ideal for day trips, weekend getaways, and short vacations. The self-draining cockpit and the presence of a lifebuoy and electric bilge pump contribute to safety on board. Engine and technical equipment The Volker S-Spant is equipped with an original Albin O21 inboard gasoline engine with a power of 10 hp. This two-cylinder engine is electrically started and was overhauled in 2014. With a cruising speed of approximately 10 km/h and a maximum speed of 11 km/h, the ship is also well-suited for motorized use. The fuel tank has a capacity of 25 liters, sufficient for longer trips without refueling. Electrically, the ship is equipped with two batteries with a total capacity of 120 Ah, a battery charger, shore power connection, and a voltmeter. Navigation instruments such as a compass, VHF radio, and depth sounder are present, as well as a tricolor navigation light. Stylish appearance and practical equipment The exterior of the ship features a cockpit table, pulpit and pushpit seats, fenders, lines, and a lifeline. The anchor is secured with chain and line, ensuring a secure anchorage. The varnish in the cockpit requires some attention, providing an opportunity for the new owner to refresh the ship to their liking. Weighing approximately 3000 kg, the ship is robustly built and provides a solid foundation for adventurous voyages. With a clearance height of 10.20 meters, it is possible to pass under most bridges, increasing accessibility to various sailing areas. History and sailing possibilities This ship is registered as Sailing Heritage and has a rich history. The current owner is the fourth in line and has used the ship for various purposes, from day trips to vacations on the Wadden Sea. The boat is suitable for use on inland waters, lakes, ponds, rivers, and coastal waters, offering a unique combination of classic charm and practical sailing properties. The Volker S-Spant is an excellent choice for enthusiasts of classic sailboats seeking a characterful ship with an authentic appearance and pleasant sailing characteristics. With its compact size and thoughtful layout, this ship is suitable for both solo sailors and small groups looking to enjoy the water.
