Sailingboat for sale
Description
This is a unique opportunity to own a truly special boat. The Lutra 25 was originally planned as a one design class, but only two were ever built. This is hull number one. The combination of an easily driven hull shape, low weight, high stability and large sail area makes for a very fast boat on all points of sail. Especially upwind the boat sails exceptionally well due to its high aspect ratio appendages while downwind the large sail area ensures exhilarating sailing in total control. The boat moves in the lightest of winds while effective trim systems enable depowering in strong winds. The boat was designed to be sailed with a full crew, but due to its layout and stability can also easily be sailed shorthanded. The boat is a glass-epoxy-sandwich construction with local carbon reinforcements at the chain plates and around the rudder bearing. The boat has a keel stepped rig with mast, boom and spreaders all made from carbon. The standing rigging was replaced 2024. The boat further has a fixed bowsprit for attaching code sails or rating optimized asymmetric spinnakers. Larger asymmetric spinnakers can be flown from a retractable carbon bowsprit. The boat also comes with a carbon spinnaker pole for symmetric spinnakers. Due to its light weight and its lifting keel and rudder the boat can easily be put on its trailer and towed with a medium sized car. A complete refit of the deck was completed in 2021 which included removing and rebedding of all deck fittings, repainting the deck and applying new non-skid. As part of the process the original below-deck trim systems were moved above deck which significantly improved the watertightness of the boat. However, this can be reverted easily. Because of its good allround-performance this boat is an ideal choice for the booming, ratingless shorthanded racing in the Baltic Sea such as the Silverrudder or Vegvisir Race. It offers a significant performance advantage over boats such as X-79 or J/80. At the same time the loads remain manageable by hand. The ability to trailer the boat simplifies deliveries. The Boat has previously been measured for ORC and IRC. An ORC hull offset file is available with the rating authorities.
