Description

This unique boat offers all the advantages of wooden boats without the drawbacks. It sails like a large dinghy (nimble, tiller, etc.), yet provides the comfort of a big family boat. Designed by Elvstrøm & Kjærulff for the 1978 World Championship in ocean racing (with Paul Elvstrøm as captain) in the ¾-ton class. Constructed at Jersie Bådværft and furnished with high-quality mahogany interior. It sails remarkably well and remains quite fast, especially during tacking and in light winds. The tall rig makes it a straight boat, and despite an additional 200 kg of lead to the fin keel, it needs to be reefed relatively quickly. The boat will likely appeal most to sailors who value sailing characteristics but also appreciate the significant comfort below deck. Built in cross-laminated mahogany/epoxy, fiberglass-coated, lead keel. Thoroughly renovated several times (see below). Sails: mainsail 25 m2 from 2024 with two reefs (Høi Jensen Sail, 7.55 oz dacron), light wind genoa 30.2 m2 from 2012 (Quantum Performance Cruising Dacron), jib from 2024 (Høi Jensen Sail, 7.55 oz dacron), original spinnaker, original "big boy," and storm jib. Rig: Fractional rig Mast and standing rig from John Mast, 2007 Boom, John Mast, year 2000 Original spinnaker pole Engine: Betamarine, 3-cylinder 25 HP with 70 Amp generator, 2003, shaft with 2-blade folding propeller from Korsør propeller, Technodrive gear, ManeCraft DeapSea shaft seal Interior: Headroom: approx. 1.82 m at the galley and about 1.75 m in the salon 2 cabins with two beds each + large salon with room for 2 additional beds. Sturdy cradle can be included in the sale. Maintenance: The current owner has had the boat since 1997 and has taken summer cruises along the Swedish and Norwegian coasts every year. The boat has been continuously maintained, most recently with new sheet cars and fuel hoses in 2023, new sails (mainsail and jib), new VHF radio with AIS, new freshwater flow meter with display, many new lamps and LED bulbs throughout, new double lanterns, and renovated electrical system in 2024. Additionally, major renovations on several occasions: 2003: bottom partially replaced, including all bottom timbers, part of the keel, reinforced with longitudinal stringers, rudder completely renovated. Designed by a professional boat builder and executed in collaboration between the shipyard and the current owner. The reason was rot in the original mahogany, and the renovation replaced all the bad wood. No issues since with rot and water ingress. Since then, all through installations (bolts, etc.) have been epoxy-coated. 2006 Deck reinforcement at the mast and replacement of the deck around the bow and stern. 2019 "Beautification project." Sanding of the entire topsides and deck, painting (Sigmacover 280, 456 and Sigmadur 550 - 7000), new deck covering (including new hatches, two new self-tailing Andersen winches, Easylock winch tensioners, blocks, compasses, aluminum railing, etc.), new teak rubbing strakes, and new non-slip deck coating (kiwigrip), new sliding hatch. The boat is located in Jyllinge harbor. Currently on land but will be launched and seaworthy if there is interest. The seller will be available in the future with experience and assistance.
