Description

The 'Skirda'! Designed by William A. Atkins and built in 1951 by shipyard Arthur Miller in Boston. Hull number 510717. Fully documented since 1990, when the ship was purchased in poor condition by a German who had it brought from the United States to Bremer Haven, had a trailer built, and then took the ship to Poland for a complete restoration. There, between 2004 and 2007, he built a huge shed to carry out the final stages of the restoration. The restoration took 12 years and was carried out by Polish yacht builders, supervised by the owner, an expert in shipbuilding with a focus on yacht construction. In January 2016, the ship was sold to the current owners who sailed it to Denmark. In 2017, the engine was overhauled and the owner's cabin, galley, and masts were restored there. Since then, the owners sail every summer from May to the end of September to the Baltic Sea, where the ship is hauled out and stored in a heated shed every winter. In 2021, new work was carried out at the HCC shipyard in Marstal, Denmark; both masts were revarnished, and the keel/hull joints were also inspected. In short, a top ship for an enthusiast! Virtually maintenance-free because the ship was completely epoxy-coated during the restoration, inside and out! Come and see it...
