GibSea 402 – Sailboat from 1987 with renovation potential The GibSea 402, built by Gibert Marine in 1987, is a polyester sailboat measuring 12 meters in length and 4 meters in width. With a draft of 2 meters and a round bilge hull shape, this vessel is designed for seaworthy use. The yacht is registered in the Seeschiffsregister of Rostock under number 3519 and holds a valid Ship Certificate. VAT has been paid. Construction and design The hull of the GibSea 402 is made of polyester, a commonly used material in yacht construction due to its strength and ease of maintenance. The hull is of the round bilge type, typically ensuring stable sailing and good seaworthiness. Steering is done via a wheel in the cockpit, with a single rudder. The cockpit is self-draining, enhancing safety on open water. Interior and accommodation The interior offers six fixed berths, spread across multiple cabins. Onboard amenities include a manual toilet with direct discharge to open water, a shower, a refrigerator, and an oven. The water tank has a capacity of 360 liters, while the holding tank offers 65 liters of capacity. There are works needed, particularly on the woodwork, both inside and outside. Engine and technical equipment The boat is equipped with a Yanmar 4JHE inboard diesel engine with a power of 45 hp, distributed over four cylinders. The engine dates back to the same year as the ship (1987) and has approximately 7800 running hours. The current operation status of the engine is unknown. The fuel tank has a capacity of 130 liters. Onboard are four batteries, powered by a battery charger, solar panel, and inverter. The electrical system operates on 220V. Navigation and electronics The navigation equipment is extensive and includes an autopilot, GPS, chartplotter, compass, log/speedometer, radar, depth sounder, VHF radio, and wind gauge. The autopilot features a linear drive whose seals need replacement. Sail equipment The GibSea 402 features an aluminum mast and two sails: a mainsail and a genoa. The headsail is equipped with a Facnor TI 150 furling system. The condition of the sails is described as fair to poor, indicating that replacement or repair should be considered. Equipment and extras On deck, the boat is equipped with a bimini, pulpit and pushpit seats, lifelines, and two anchors with chain, operated by an electric windlass. For added mobility, there is a dinghy onboard, including a 2.5 hp Mercury outboard motor. Safety In terms of safety, the boat is equipped with a lifebuoy, liferaft, and an electric bilge pump. This equipment is essential for use at sea, where the boat has been previously utilized. Maintenance and condition The boat has been on land since 2020 and has not been launched since. The last antifouling treatment was in 2014. There are no signs of osmosis detected. However, various maintenance points are known, including work on the day tank system and the woodwork inside and outside. Usage and background The GibSea 402 has been used in the past for leisure sailing and sea vacations. The current state of the boat requires significant renovation, especially in terms of interior finishing and technical systems. For a buyer looking for a project with potential, this boat offers a solid foundation.
