Bavaria 47 Overview The Bavaria 47 strikes an exceptional balance between performance, comfort, and generous living space, delivering the kind of cruising experience typically associated with yachts at a considerably higher price point. Her sleek, purposeful design combines impressive sailing performance with an expansive interior and welcoming sense of volume, making her equally well suited to spirited passages and relaxed extended cruising. Designed as a true performance cruiser, she offers lively handling and rewarding speed while retaining the comfort and practicality expected of a serious offshore yacht. Her CE Category A certification, complemented by a Kevlar-reinforced hull, provides an added level of confidence for ocean passages and bluewater adventures. For the discerning sailor seeking a yacht that offers speed without sacrificing comfort, space without unnecessary complexity, and offshore capability without the premium price of a boutique brand, the Bavaria 47 presents an outstanding opportunity. She is a sophisticated, versatile cruising platform with the performance to inspire and the space to make extended time aboard genuinely enjoyable. The inclusion of Kevlar in the forward sections of the hull is a significant safety bonus. While GRP is the primary material, the Kevlar adds protection against floating objects often encountered during ocean crossings. The Bavaria 47's stability is driven largely by form stability, meaning she gains much of her upright resistance from her 14'8" beam. This makes for a very stiff boat initially, which is comfortable for the crew because the boat does not heel excessively in moderate gusts. A passage making Star! Additional Information Accommodation Stepping below decks, the layout is configured with three cabins. The in-line galley to port is a hallmark of this era, providing extensive workspace and excellent storage, though some traditionalists find it less secure than a U-shaped galley when preparing meals at a high angle of heel. Tankage is generous for a production boat of this size. With approximately 460 litres (101 gallons) of fuel and 600 litres (132 gallons) of water, the Bavaria 47 is well equipped for extended periods away from the marina. The cockpit is designed for socialising, with a large fixed table and dual steering wheels on later versions. This allows for an easy thoroughfare to the sugar-scoop stern, a blessing for Caribbean-style boarding or swimming. Sailed extensively in the North Sea and Baltic Sea. We started in April 2025 from the Baltic Sea for our trip going through the Dover Strait, all along the European Coast, crossing Biscayne Bay, following Portugal and Spain down to Gibraltar, and went to Madeira. From the Canaries and Cabo Verde, we passages to Barbados and then cruised along the Caribbean islands. In June 2026, we hauled out in Saint Martin for new antifouling and propeller change. The boat went safely and comfortably through rough weather and has always been stable and secure. Here we have bought a catamaran and therefore we must sell our trusty, reliable lady, "Voyage." I greatly respect this boat in that it is reliable and safe even if the conditions become challengingly rough. In my opinion, it is very nice that you can stay dry in the fully canvas-enclosed cockpit during rain by setting the enclosure while you are still sailing. You can do everything from the cockpit and no need to go on deck. This makes you safe when weather is rough. Also, the spacious galley and cockpit is a highlight. We had parties with 8 people dancing in the cockpit. All in all, we also have some tears in the eyes by selling the boat. But now we have purchased a catamaran.
