Hull #5 of 41 built in the Swan 65 series (1973–1989), S&S design #2110. Designed by Sparkman & Stephens as Nautor's flagship model, at the time of her launch she was the largest GRP-constructed yacht on the market, and remains one of the most famous Swan models ever built, owing to her extraordinary racing pedigree. On 1st June 1973, at 79 Madison Avenue, New York, Sparkman & Stephens completed Design No. 2110. Nautor, already the most respected yard in the industry, began production immediately, and a legend was born: the Swan 65. Arguably one of the most iconic and instantly recognisable yachts of all time, the Swan 65 remains one of S&S's most successful designs, built to a standard of quality that Nautor has never repeated since. She offers great sailing combined with genuine seaworthiness, equally at home on serious offshore passages as on the regatta circuit. A Swan 65, Sayula II, won the inaugural Whitbread Round the World Race in 1973/74. In the following edition, another Swan 65, King's Legend, finished second, beaten only by the aluminium Flyer, while a third, ADC Accutrac, finished fifth under Clare Francis, the race's first female skipper. Few production designs in sailing history can claim such a record. SAIDA's classic S&S layout offers comfortable, well-proportioned living aboard: a private owner's stateroom forward, a spacious main salon amidships with dedicated chart table, two guest staterooms aft, and a well-equipped galley. A separate crew berth forward of the collision bulkhead, independent from the guest accommodation, completes the layout, ideal for extended cruising with family, guests, and crew. SAIDA has been owned for over a decade by a lifelong sailor with more than 40 years' experience, from youth dinghy racing through decades of Mediterranean cruising. Seeking more than a production yacht, a boat with genuine history, presence, and the pedigree to be sailed anywhere in the world, her owner commissioned a complete refit in 2023 with Nautor Swan Global Service, carried out to the highest standard while preserving the yacht's original character, including structural reinforcement at the mast bases. SAIDA (SUI 4365) has continued to prove her competitive edge. At the 2022 Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez Maxi Yachts, she won Course 1 outright and led her 14-boat Trophée Torpez group wire-to-wire, taking the overall class win, a strong testament to both her performance potential and the quality of her preparation. In 2024, she went on to win St. Maarten Heineken Regatta in the Swan 65 class.
